@Kubas One of the coolest things in OpenWRT is you can install additional software packages e.g. adblock to filter ads directly on the router.

@adios I think its a misunderstanding, I have no issues with openwrt so far. Had the WiFi issue threaded here after I updated the tp-link firmware from 1.2.1 to newer one

@Kubas OpenWrt install and yes uploaded and flashed via the Tp-link user interface. Worked like charm

@dIaBoLyK Did it yesterday and stayed on OpenWrt, much more possibilities. Btw. had the same issues with 2.4 GHz WiFi after I upgraded the OEM firmware.

I flashed the latest OpenWRT through the web interface. No tftp server needed.
