Model: Deco X75
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.2.11

My Setup is as following:

  • TP Link ER8411 router 8 WAN/LAN and 2 SFP+ and 1 SFP ports
  • TL-SG2210MP 8 POE+ and 2 SFP+ ports
  • 5x Wired Deco X75 Pro
  • 1x Mesh connected Deco X75 Pro
  • Addidtional: OC200 Controler

The following ports are in use on the ER8411:

  1. Ethernet in (later this year should be SFP+ optical fiber I recon);
  2. Living room;
  3. Office room;
  4. Coridor (upstairs);
  5. Bedroom left;
  6. Bedroom right;
  7. NAS DS723+;
  8. TL-SG2210MP.

The Decos are devided over 2 floors (just to give an impression)

  1. Main wired Deco downstairs in the office or the technical room;
  2. One wired Deco in the living room;
  3. One mesh Deco close to the front door for covering IOT at the front;
  4. One wired Deco in the upstair corridor;
  5. One wired deco in the far left bedroom;
  6. One wired deco in the far right bedroom.

The 8 POE+ ports are used as following:

  1. Ethernet in;
  2. Camera 1;
  3. Camera 2;
  4. Camera 3;
  5. Camera 4;
  6. OC200;
  7. NAS DS723+.

I thought it would be plug and play but unfortunately it's giving be a headache after months of trying to get the proper setup. Should I use the SFP ports to connect devices (router -> switch or switch -> NAS) and free up ports? Or would replacing the switch by the TPLINK TLSG2016P be a better idea?

What setup would you create with this information? I'm not tech savvy, but I can follow instructions well to get to the best setup.

  @BasJS Hi, Welcome to the community.

The network topology seems fine. Have you set Deco XE75 Pro into Access Point mode?

If there are Ethernet ports available, I would recommend normal Ethernet ports.

Can you share more details about "it's giving me a headache after months of trying to get the proper setup" so that I can check whether some adjustment needs to be made?

Thank you very much and best regards.

@David-TP thank you for your reply and your follow up questions. I should've added a picture myself, I will try to edit my post.

The past few months, on a regular basis, the connection would drop on any device. As if internet was denied, but the wifi connection worked. Some of the Decos have a different MAC address on the sticker than the MAC address shown in the device list. In two cases it's a B instead of a A at the very end. Minor difference but WHY!?

Yesterday I replaced a Netgear switch by the SG2210 and all I did was replug the ethernet cables. Lost the entire (wifi) network! Couldn't access the Decos through the app, had to reset them all. Was a days work all in all. Got it working no (I think), and set the new network to AP. It's still impossible to delete the old network from the Deco app though.

Thank you David!

Best,

Bas

  @David-TP To explain the headache I get from this setup: it is explained best by saying that most devices are buffering all the time. Connection lost, "buffering" and reconnect.

Bas

  @BasJS

Hi, Thank you very much for the further details.

For the MAC address, I think it might be the difference between LAN MAC(the Lable MAC) and WAN MAC(=the last character of label MAC(hexadecimal)+1) and of Deco.

On the Device list of ER8411, they should be the WAN MAC addresses.

Back to the network instability, I believe the issues are mainly on the wireless mobile devices, right?

How many mobile devices do you have? Would there be a lot of smart home devices, like Ring Doorbell?

There was a beta firmware for Deco XE75 Pro_V3 that mainly optimized the 2.4GHz network performance. I can send it later via email and you can check whether it helps.

Thanks again and best regards.

Tuesday

  @David-TP WAN and LAN have different MAC addresses? Been around for a while but this is a first for me... Today I was years old...

We have a few devices indeed...

Regular 2.4 and 5GHz

* Cell phones (6)

* Tablets (4)

Iot network (2.4GHz)

* Shelly (9)

* Smart light bulbs (17)

* Ring (1 + 2 offline)

Guest network

* no clients

I'm using a dedicated tablet for showing the live feed from the camera's for example and the app is shut down every so many minutes for no good reason. My assumption is that it's because the signal is interrupted or something like that. It seems just so random.

I can sit a couple of meter to one of the Decos using my cell phone to play a game and the game shows me the icon that signal is lost. So random...

Best,

Bas

Wednesday

  @BasJS

Hi, Thanks for the update.

I guess it is more due to the Deco WAN/LAN auto-sensing mechanism.

For the instability issue, I hope you can install the share beta firmware and let me know how it works.

Best regards.

Re:Deco X75 pro in Omada network
Friday

  @David-TP I kept a closer I on the devices and connection errors. I forgot to mention in the list of devices that are cable connected (ER8411 -> managed Netgear Switch -> device or docking station): 1 laptop, 1 desktop and 1 Xbox. In the living room is are a smart TV and Xbox connected through a unmanaged switch. Dishwasher, washing machine and dryer are using the 2.4 network.

My (office) laptop has huge connectiong issues. Needs to reconnect to the network every 10so minutes. The 1st Xbox is not able to play multiplayer games due to connection issues. The smart TV is clearly buffering as the image is grainy. The Xbox gives the best error code though: timeout occured.

So this got me thinking: could it have something to do with time settings on the ER8411? I noticed that Daytime was disabled although it was enabled before. Here's the screenshot from the Omada website:

It is clearly enabled, yet not active...

Maybe the cesnet.cz (not my choice btw) is not the best server?

Does this make any sense to you?

Best,

Bas
