Hello guys,

 

I recently installed the Beta firmware mentioned in this thread to achieve 5G only Mode for my Deco becuase it switched over to 4G core networks always altough there is a really good N78 connection available.

 

My question is:

Is there a more recent version of this firmware available including the newer bugfixes and features from recent Software versions but with the 5G ony mode?

Why isn't the option still not there in standard firmware? The "Prefer 5G" option just does not work how it's supposed.

Hi, nice to see you again.

I'm afraid there hasn't been a new firmware that allows to set 5G network mode only.

This mode has been added to the Archer 5G series- Archer NX200/NX600 and it seems causing some confusion especially when the current SIM ISPs use both 5G SA and NSA.

Archer NX200 cannot connect to the Internet in 5G Only mode

Personally, I think it might still take some time when most sim ISPs have fully updated from 5G NSA to 5G Standalone networks.

Hi David, thanks for your help. 

On my side that Feature works just fine and i am not able to use the router without it because it does not connect to 5G SA then. Cell Lock on newer firmware also did not work, signal was still switching to 4G bands even when locked.

 

could you please forward this to engineering so they can at least build another unofficial firmware with that option based on more recent firmware so we can achieve what TPL is advertising the router for (5G)?

Or just put the option behind some experimental / expert category in the Software so the user can decide himself.

I also just Updated to the most recent 1.1.7 Firmware and noticed that the signal got worse about 5-6 dB After updating.
