Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.6 Build 20240808 rel.26673(4153)

My iPad Pro 12.9” 6th Gen can see the WiFi 6E network on my provider’s poorly ZTE router, but cannot on my brand new  new BE800.

If I combine the 5Ghz and 6Ghz bands, it connects to it at 5Ghz (WiFi 6)
If I separate the 5Ghz and 6Ghz bands, it can only see the 5Ghz (WiFi 6) SSID, not the 6Ghz (WiFi 6E) SSID

PS: Below are the settings on my router

  • Security : WPA3-Personal
  • Channel Width : 20/40/80/160Mhz
  • Preferred Scanning Channel : Tried both Enabled and Disabled
  • Target Wake Time : Tried both Enabled and Disabled
  • OFDMA : On
  • MU-MIMO : Tried both Enabled and Disabled
  • WMM : Enabled
  • AP Isolation : Disabled
  • Airtime Fairness : Enabled
  • Beacon Interval : 100
  • RTS Threshold : 2346
  • DTIM Interval : 1
  • Group Key Update Period : 0

What can I check next?

PS : My iPhone 16 Pro can detect the 6Ghz network, no problem when using 802.11ax+be or only ax.

@Joseph-TP Thank you. The issue turned out to be on the iPad itself. For some reason, it was disabling 6Ghz in Thailand. Turning off location services for wireless fixed it.

Hi, must be a compatability thing between 6ghz and 6ghz extension version with your ipad seeing 6E on ISP router but not standard 6 on new router.

@Muffinman let me clarify. My iPad sees WiFi 6 (5Ghz) on both routers. But it is seeing WiFi 6E (6Ghz) only on my ISP router, not the TP-Link.

with these standards being "standard", I would assume all WiFi 6E would be same, except the changes done in settings?

When you merge both 5/6 signals as one it automatically is choosing 5ghz over 6 on new router but sees and connects 6ghz on old router, other than changing maybe the channel widths and modes I`m not sure what else to suggest.

Hi@slyronit,

Please try the following suggestions:

   1. Make sure the 6GHz network is enabled and not hidden, you may check this on the Tether APP > More > Wi-Fi Settings.
    2. Make sure your client device supports 6GHz Wi-Fi, drivers and system are all up to date.
    3. Make sure you are using the Router and the client device in a country that allows Wi-Fi 6E/7 operation, if your Router and client device are not purchased from the same country, Wi-Fi 6E operation might not be available.
