Model: RE220
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

I've just setup my extender.

I have two PCs ( a notebook and a desktop system).

They were connected to the original WiFi network and communicated successfully although the dektop system had occasional problems connecting to the WiFi. hence the purchase of the extender.

Now the extender is in place they can both connect to the network and access the internet.

They can't however talk to each other.

The notebook has an IP address of 192.168.1.197,  DG and DNS 192.168.1.254

The desktop has an IP address of 192.168.1.204, DG and DNS 192.168.1.254

Neither can ping the other although both can ping the DG. If I try to ping one from the other I get a "Request timed out" message.

What am I missing?

Hi,

Note that recent versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11 usually designate newly added Wi-Fi networks as "Public network" and the firewall settings associated with the "Public" profile don't allow incoming pings.

To allow access to the PC in question its Wi-Fi connection has to be set to "Private network".
