AX53 Bed Time paased - still has internet
AX53 Bed Time paased - still has internet
Family profile -> Bedtime limit hour has passed, but computer using TP-Link USB Wifi dongle still has internet connectivity.
In the older routers such as Archer VR400 , the time limit worked perfect when configuring it from the web interface.

Hi @inc0g,
Please note Bedtime: The clients on the profile cannot access the Internet during Bedtime time.
Do you mean that the time has come to the bedtime setting time, but the USB dongle adapter can still access the Internet?
Please try the following suggestions:
1. Please ensure the client device is not using random MAC address or VPN
2. Ensure the router system time is correct on Advanced > System Tools > Time Settings page
3. Ensure the configuration is correct by following these guide: How to Setup Parental Controls using the TP-Link Tether App

Hi, yes, everything is configured properly.
Even after bedtime hour has passed, a game still has connection and he is able to play, even when theres no ping to 8.8.8.8 .
I had a case opened about this - TKID241035274 , they provided me with a custom firmware update which resolves this issue, but aftet some time there was a firmware update showing, so I updated, and it started happening again.
Am I supposed to never update the firmware again after applying the custom firmware?
And, is it possible to configure parental control times the old fashioned way like I used to in the Archer VR600 interface?
Thanks.

Hi @inc0g,
The official firmware with the fix has not been released yet, and it will take some time to iterate.
Currently, it is recommended that you keep the beta firmware and turn off auto-update.
Subsequent firmware updates will generally clearly mention the specific functions that have been fixed, so you can try again then.

I actually already tried that yesterday, still didnt work, internet was working past bedtime hours, at least this online game. So I ask again, is there a way to configure it the old way like in the VR400 web gui? Because it was working there without any issues. I really need this basic function that all routers have to work without any issues!

Even the Ai chatbot "Claude" says this is a known problem with some TP-LINK products, please do something to fix this and make it work without issues, focusing on online games and apps which seems to continue working despite having the bed time passing.

Another piece of information which might be helpful for you to fix this bug is, manually choosing and blocking the device DOES work, the game stops working, but only when manually selecting "Block" .

Hello, yes, even with the beta fw, problem still exist, the bedtime is not consistent, and not working as should, keeping the online game active.
When you say APP logs, do you mean logs from the router or from the windows computer on which the game is being run? Can you be more specific please?
Thank you

Hi @inc0g,
Engineers have confirmed that the issue can be resolved with a fix included in the firmware. Can you try restarting the device again or resetting it?

Ive reverted back to the custom firmware with the fix. Now there are the following issues:
1. If bedtime is set to 22:00 , and at 21:40 I open the app and change the bedtime in the profile to 22:30 , it doesnt really work, even after disconnecting and re-connecting to the Wifi network, no internet, and its not 22:30 yet. Only if I choose "OFF" in the profile, then the internet came back.
It seems this is very inconsistent, all the time I find myself needing to "play" with the app settings in order for it to work.
I would really want to be able to configure parental controls from the web management GUI instead of the Tether App, like in the older Archer VR400 , where I could also choose different hours for different days WITHOUT NEEDING TO PAY EXTRA for subscription to Premium home shield!
I think this is the last time I will purchase TP-LINK products.
