Best setup mode for TL-WR902AC
Dears
Let me explain my problem, and I hope to find the solution here
At home I have a very good wireless connection.
I need and I want to take the internet connection by wifi signal, and bring inside in a dedicated area of my house, where I have a lot of devices which will be managed by a second router, with a rules and fixed IP address
My idea is use the TL-WR902AC to pick up the internet connection, and by wire connect to the second router, which will broadcast a different wireless network and could connect also other devices by ethernet port.
The size of the TL-WR902AC fit perfectly my needs!
Which mode I should use to do it?
- Client mode (looks perfect!)
- Hot spot router mode (why not?)
- Any other tips & tricks where I should pay attentions?
Thanks a lot for your attention!

Hi,
If you don't already have a TL-WR902AC and are just inquiring before making the purchase, then you also want to take into consideration that this is one of the models that don't support DFS channels. What I mean is that if the Wi-Fi network you are trying to hook up to happened to be broadcasting on a 5 GHz channel number from 52 to 140, then the TL-WR902AC would not be able to connect to it.
Also note that the TL-WR902AC has a 100 Mbps Ethernet port, which means your Internet speed will be capped at around 95 Mbps, no matter how good the wireless connection is.
Regarding the modes. You can try Client mode first and if that doesn't work switch to Hotspot mode. Note that Hotspot mode adds another NAT and the TL-WR902AC will also keep broadcasting it own wireless networks.
