Model: Deco X50-5G
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.1.4

Yesterday I received my Deco X50-5G and immediately added it to my existing X50 Mesh replacing my old main-Deco.

Before I had a 5G-Router from my Internet-Provider and had 2 Portforwardings in use, which were working.

Now both are somehow not working anymore.

What I already found out is that apparently the naming of internal and external part is switched or the displaying is wrong.

Are there any know bugs in the firmware I use or could it be something else?

I want to forward port 443 and port 1194 to 2 different internal IPs.

Hi, May I know the model number of your previous 5G Router?

Did you set the existing Deco X50(non-5G version) into "Wireless router mode" or "Access Point mode" with the old 5G router before?

Have you checked with the SIM carrier whether you need to update anything(like the bounded MAC address maybe) after replacing the old 5G router with Deco X50-5G?

By the way, May I know who your SIM carrier is?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @David-TP

Hi David,
the previous Router was a "custom" ZTE MC888.

As the "old" Carrier-Router was not capable of doing a Bridge-Mode I had to set the Deco's into AP-Mode, that was one of the main reasons to buy the Deco X50-5G.

I have not checked with my carrier as everything else is working flawless, but I will call them today to see if there may be anything that needs to be unlocked by them.

My carrier is Magenta which is one of the "big" 3 here in Austria, it is basically a Sister Company of the german "Deutsche Telekom".

Thanks for your reply and best regards

Hi, Thanks for the quick reply.

I will wait for your update after calling the SIM Carrier.

At the same time, you could also compare the current IPV4/IPV6 internet addresses on the Deco X50-5G and what they were on the ZTE MC888 gateway.

Usually, most of the SIM carriers use CG-ANT service and the assigned IPV4/IPV6 internet addresses would be the reserved private addresses.

It often requires extra settings on the SIM carrier side to allow remote communication.

Thank you very much and best regards.

  @David-TP

I just talked to the Carrier and they told me that they are not enforcing any blocks whatsoever.

About the IPv4 address - I am using a "business" APN to be able to get a "static" public IP which is being changed every 2-3 days.

I used the same settings on the X50 as I was using on the "old" carrier Router and since then the X50 is not getting a "private" address but rather a public address.

Hi, Thanks for the update.

In this way, can you send an email(please add the forum ID-713302) to support.forum@tp-link.com with the following details:

  • A screenshot of the Internet settings on the Deco X50-5G, such as

  • A screenshot of the Port Forwarding Configurations on the Deco APP.

By the way, can you also add some pictures/files of "the naming of internal and external part is switched or the displaying is wrong."

Wait for your reply and best regards.

@David-TP In the meantime I have experimented a bit more and found that somehow the X50-5G has set the DHCP to a /22 CIDR instead of the previously used /24 - I changed all static configured devices to /22 but nonetheless the port forwarding is still not working.

I have opened a ticket with the mailaddress and will wait on feedback from them.

I have also tested if the ports are even open from outside using this tool: https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/
But unfortunately I only get the message that the ports are closed.
