Hi all

Jumping on the bandwagon of problems with the x55 I wanted to explain and ask advice on my system. I have opened a tech support query but not sure how long it will take them to supply.

Yesterday, for no apparent reason, our Deco x55 units started playing up. We have three, two satellites and one main which also acts as the router connecting to our ISP's modem and using PPPoE with user name and password.

There has been no changes to our Deco configuration and after extensive chat with our ISP no changes or technical problems at their end.

All three Deco's appear with Green light and Deco app says everything fine but internet connection was intermittant at best. It wasnt even able to perform a speed test without dropping out.

I tried re-starting the modem, restarted all Deco's, then swappning the main and satelites and ultimately ended up factory re-setting all Deco's and re-configuring but with no luck.

In the end gave up and changed our Deco's to access point mode and plugged in the ISP's router (a TPLink HC220) and the connection ihas been fine since.

Our ISP has provided me the logs and no problems are showing their end and even when using the Deco as router overnight their system shows the connection wasnt dropped suggesting its a problem with how the Deco's are managing the internet connecting on the local network.

Removing the HC220 and plugging back in the Deco's in router mode and the problem returns. All the settings on the Deco mirror those of the HC220 so I cannot understand what is going on. Also, why one minute fine and the next not when there was no changes made by anyone (I was not home at the time to change anything and no recent firmware update)

I saw elsewhere in the forums about toggling beam and mesh modes on off etc which I tried but didnt help. I also amended the DNS servers which it mentioned also. Infact the Deco's are all working fine today in mesh mode the only difference is I am using the HC220 to access the internet.

Does anyone have any ideas what to do?

I am sure the Deco's are faulty.

Thank you

  @EyupEyup

Hi,

Thanks for posting on TP-Link Community.

Change DNS would be a great method troubleshooting step with the unstable issue. If you find the issue still exists, you can change the DNS settings to Google DNS.

Besides, you can also change the main Deco unit to test if the issue is with certain Deco unit.

Have you contact Support via email? Please also kindly wait for their suggestions.
