Model: Deco X90
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.26 b20231225 r33179

Hi,

I wish to know how to separate 2.4G & 5G WiFi on Deco X90.  Now both are joint under the same SSID.  Previous models like M5 i remember can set separate SSID for 2.4G & 5G.

The reason i need this is because of my Samsung A9+ tablet which is capable of 5Ghz wifi doesn't work correctly with X90, it keeps disconnecting very soon after connected, and prompt for password.  I discovered the root cause after many trials and finally found that it works with 2.4G on X90 only.  I do not know the problem is from X90 or the tablet.  All others devices work with X90 5Ghz except for A9+ tablet; A9+ 5Ghz works with all other routers i have except for X90.

For the tablet to work with 2.4GHz only on my X90, i need to enable only 2.4G otherwise the tablet will auto connect to the non working 5Ghz channel.  When i do this, all other devices i have will lose the connection to 5Ghz.

Can X90 setup separate SSID for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz? Joint SSID is good but in my case it is not working.

Thanks.

Firmware version 1.2 should have Connection Preference feature, which you can use to force Samsung A9+ tablet to run on 2.4GHz band. See Part 2 of the following document: How to select a preferred signal source on the Deco App

Another option would be to enable IoT Network, and connect tablet to it. By default, IoT Network broadcasts 2.4GHz only. See https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/stories/detail/501922
