Model: Deco XE75 Pro
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.29 Build 20231225 Rel. 57498

I have configured VPN client as per below.

VPNClient: OpenVPN

Access Permission: Client List

Client List: Device A

Scenario 1 (successful): VPN Client is turned ON, Device A is able to access the VPN

Scenario 2 (bug): VPN Client is turned OFF, Device A is not able to access Internet at all, however other connected devices is able to access Internet.

Scenario 3 (workaround): VPN Client turned ON, removed device A from client list, Device A is able to access Internet now.

If an existing device is added to VPN Client (unactivated), the device is unable to access Internet.

  @LaXeR

Hi, welcome to the community.

After turning off the VPN client, it might take a few seconds for the clients to switch back to the normal internet connection.

If you wait for a few seconds, 30-60s, will the clients restore the internet connection automatically?

Or if we disconnect and reconnect to the WiFi once manually, will it help?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @LaXeR

I have tried and waited, same.

However as per my workaround, if vpn is on, and I removed the device from vpn client list, then I turn off vpn client it's back to normal.

Definitely a bug.

It seems the VPN client list is having the bug, despite vpn client is off.

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.

Do you mean that "If an existing device was added to the VPN Client (inactivated/off), the device is unable to access the Internet until it is removed from the VPN Client list?"

Are you able to constantly reproduce this issue?

By the way. May I know your Deco APP version?

Which VPN server do you use, Norton VPN? Surfshark or something else?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @David-TP

Hello,
This means that when the client VPN is connected for all devices, they all have access to the VPN resources and the internet. However, if I switch to the VPN Client List, only the devices on the list can access the VPN resources, and they are unable to access the internet. For the rest of the devices not included in the list, they only have access to the internet as expected.

I can consistently reproduce this issue.
Versions
Deco X50
Version 1.5.1 Build 20240417 Rel. 52783
Deco App 3.7.55

I am using a private VPN server, not a commercial solution.

Hi, Thanks for the update.

"when the client VPN is connected for all devices, they all have access to the VPN resources and the internet."

Do you mean if you directly establish a VPN connection to the private VPN server on the end device without going through Deco, you are able to access VPN server resources and the internet service, right?

If yes, it is suggested to add the following routes in the OpenVPN server config file:

route 0.0.0.0 192.0.0.0 net_gateway
route 64.0.0.0 192.0.0.0 net_gateway
route 128.0.0.0 192.0.0.0 net_gateway
route 192.0.0.0 192.0.0.0 net_gateway

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @David-TP

Hi, thanks for your feedback.

The scenario described was going through Deco, I mean, When the VPN in Deco is connected for all devices, they all have access to the VPN resources and the internet.

The VPN file already has this configuration:

For VPN resources, I used:
route 10.111.0.0 255.255.0.0 vpn_gateway

For the internet:
route 0.0.0.0 192.0.0.0 net_gateway
route 64.0.0.0 192.0.0.0 net_gateway
route 128.0.0.0 192.0.0.0 net_gateway
route 192.0.0.0 192.0.0.0 net_gateway

Additionally, I have:
dhcp-option DNS 8.8.8.8
dhcp-option DNS 8.8.4.4

I emphasize that when Deco VPN configuration is set for all clients, it works fine. The only problem is when you switch to the list.
