Model: Deco BE85
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.0.15 Build 20240117 Rel 52274

Need input from specialists

I recently changed from a 1Gbps internet plan to a 10GBps.

Good news:

-Negotiated speed looks fine

-Connectivity via LAN is great, and I can get 7Gbs when connected

Setup

-Router TP LInk BE800

-ISP Modem into be BE800 port 1

-BE800 to BE85 via 10Gbs ethernet

-BE85 to my TPLink 5-port Multi-Gigabit Switch 10Gbps. This is connected to other Decos (BE85 and X90) around the house.

Wifi:

-Wifi is using Deco Mesh via BE85 in access point mode (BE800 is the rounter0

-2.4 Ghz, 5 Ghz and 6 Ghz enabled.

-MLO disabled

Wifi performance:

-On my MacBook pro M3 or iPhone 15 I am getting max wifi speeds of 1.7-1.1Gbps.

-Given that these products are Wi-Fi 7 and the MacBook Pro M3 and iPhone 15 can handle Wi-Fi 6E, what should the Wi-Fi speed available be?

-I read it should be closer to 2Gbs wireless.

-Can anyone confirm and advise me on what I need to do?

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Anyone seen this error before? Its on my iPhone and only on this one device. Other family members with same iPhone do not have this issue.

Tried following:

-switch off location services (did not work)

-switch off private wi-fi address in wifi settings. It then lets me join the network. If I try and switch on private wi-fi address, then I get the same issue.

Please note this problem started yesterday and there was no prior issue. Happened when I was playing with the wifi settings in the Deco app and testing 2.4 Ghz, 5 Ghz and 6 Ghz and trying different options. I also played around within the Deco app and looked for my iPhone under Online Clients.  I toggled mesh on and off. I also tried changing Preferred Deco from Auto (Recommended) to a specific deco to test internet speed. I did the same trying various options under Preferred Wifi Band.  See images below.

Somewhere along the way issues started.

Anyone else facing this issue?

  @dis69

Hi, I see the maximum link speed(PHY data rate) over 6Ghz on the Phone is up to 2400m/s:

The final speed test is usually about 50-80% of the Link speed/PHY rate. I think 1.7G-1.1G on the iPhone is quite great.

You can refer to this link to check the current link speed or PHY rate on the MacBook:

https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/how-to-see-your-current-wi-fi-connection-speed-in-mac-os-x/

As for the error message, may I know the model number and OS of the only device that had this error?

There is similar feedback in the Apple community:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253801014?sortBy=best

I think the issue is more retailed to WLAN settings on Apple.

Thank you very much and best regards.

@dis69 Did you get this resolved?  I'm seeing the same error now just recently.  Seems isolated to 2.4/5ghz as I'm trying to make my phone (15pro) connect to that band for some smart home devices and that's when I get this error.  However it does seem to let me connect the the IoT network if I turn that on.  I feel like a recent firmware update caused these problems cause it only started for me a week or two ago.  Many of my smart home device are having an unstable connection now.

@Dproctor95 I gave up and just switched off private wi-fi address and left it as that. Works fine but w/o private wifi address. Not sure if anyone has solved the issue.

Old thread, I know ...

You are mixing an Archer with a Deco. While both are "mesh" they use a different mesh between them and hence essentially will act independent of each other.

See: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/3749/

Hence, if you are going to get an Archer (Easy Mesh) based system, then get Easy Mesh products. Similarly with Deco.

In your case the Archer and Deco are stepping on each others toes here and hence I think that is what your error is trying to tell you.
