Hello,

I have a TP-Link extender connected to the network without a password and I want to set a password for the extender. I haven't found any settings anywhere, does this model allow it?

In which other model would it be possible?

Thank you

Hi,

This used to be possible on older TP-Link range extenders and older router models that supported range extender mode.

Then this feature was dropped for more recent range extender models, including the TL-WA855RE.

It now appears that TP-Link has just re-introduced this feature on some newer models of their range extenders.

TP-Link still has "Emulators" of many old devices up on their website, so you could look through them and find a model that suits your needs and allows to configure the wireless security of the extended network separately from the main network connection. And then check if this device can still be purchased somewhere.
