Model: Deco X90
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I had a four unit deco M5 network that was working ok but had some dead spots.

I installed a new Ethernet cable which gave me the opportunity to re-jig everything and buy 2 deco x90's.

the cable speed tests at around 800-900 mbs down/up so working well.

I have one new x90 set as the primary and the other x90 and m5's as slaves.

the problem is that as soon as one M5 is added to the network, wi fi speeds for everybody drop to 50mbs.

the only exception is if you connect to the primary x90 then it's working as fast as expected.

if I power off all m5 units speed for both x90's is ok.

what am I doing wrong as I can't believe an m5 connected to m5 primary works better than a x90?!? 50mbs vs 250-300mbs

@KerbMonster

Hi,

May I know how you connect all the Deco units together, like

ISP modem—main X90, wireless to all the satellite units(1*X90+4*M5)?

--if yes, can I have a picture of the network map on the web UI?

How much speed if you connect via Ethernet cable to the satellite M5 which is nearest to Main X90?

If disabling the 2.4ghz, would the speed get better?

Thank you very much.

  @TP-Link

I seem to have the same issue.  I added an X90 as i needed to expand a netwok with 2 x M9s and 4 x M5s.  The speeds off anything other that the main x90 have dropped off totally since adding the x90.  Were there any solutions?

  @JERMLB for me, M9 Plus is one of the worst expensive routers. Even TP-Link support didn't know why signal is so bad in my case.

so I bought X90 with hope to achieve normal signal... gues what - X90 is worst even than M9!!!

Frustrated Deco (X90, M9 Plus, M4R, E4) & Tapo (C200, C210) owner looking for solutions to use the investment in them. Expensive Plastic...
