Model: Archer AX10
Hardware Version: V20
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 Build 20210421 Rel. 64516(5553)

Hi there,

I'm seeing a really weird behavior with only one device connected to my AX10 (if I swap it back out with my old router, there's no problem). All of my other devices get around 150 mbps while my desktop only gets 1-5 mbps with small bursts of 30 mbps on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. This is what I've tried:

  • Swapped the Wi-Fi adapter out with an N, an AC, and an AX adapter (all experienced the same problem)
  • Booted into Ubuntu, Manjaro, and Windows 10 (all experienced the same problem with all Wi-Fi adapters)
  • Disabled QoS in router settings
  • Disabled Parental Controls in router settings
  • Disabled OFDMA in router settings
  • Set the channel width to the highest setting and played around with channels in router settings
  • Enabled and disabled IPv6 in router settings
  • Disabled Access Control in router settings
  • IP assignment is set to automatic (DHCP)
  • Enabled and disabled random MAC assignments in Windows 10

The separate adapters I've tried:

  • Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 160MHz Adapter
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 8260 Adapter
  • Edimax 150Mbps Wireless 802.11bgn Nano USB Adapter

Ping to the router from that computer is <1ms, and they're close enough to each other to run a 50ft ethernet cable between them. I'm at a loss at this point. I just don't understand what identifier the router could possibly be bugging out on or what's causing this. Thoughts?

Thanks,

Spirited

Additionally: I tried plugging the computer directly into the router over ethernet CAT6, and it still has the same speed issue. I tried the same cable with my laptop and it has no issue. I'm still at a complete loss. This was unexpected.

Had a very unhelpful chat with support. Over the course of the day and several speed tests, the speeds got slowly better and better. After uploading a very large file, the upload speed slowly increased on its own from 1 Mbps to the 10 Mbps I was expecting. It's all very weird, maybe some automatic speed gating by the router going wrong? Support told me it was OneDrive's fault over and over again, because the file we downloaded as a test started syncing during our session. I told them why it was syncing and how Linux had the same issue, but no - it's OneDrives fault according to them, and not the router. So I'm returning the bloody thing. Not worth my stress or anxiety that this issue is going to creep back up.

Edit: Oh, and they installed a program on my system without my approval. So, cool.
