Model: TL-WR820N
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.4.2 Build 191129 Rel.51095n(4555)

Hello,

I'm having problems with the TL-WR820N.

Router Model: TL-WR820N v2

Firmware Version: 1.4.2 Build 191129 Rel.51095n(4555)

This router is configured with the following settings:

Operation Mode: Router Mode

Internet Connection Type: Dynamic IP

NAT: Enable

Port Negotiation: Auto Negotiation

IPTV/VLAN: Disable

DHCP Server: Enabled

Total Clients: 8

:: Wireless Parameter

Transmit Power: middle

Channel Width: 20 Mhz

Channel: 11

Mode: 802.11g/n mixed

Guest Network: disabled

WPS: disabled

NAT Forwarding: One tcp/udp external port for each client

UPnP: disable

DMZ: disable

:: Security Section >> Firewall

SPI Firewall: enable

Respond to Pings from LAN: enable

Responds to Pings from WAN: enable

:: Security Section >> IP & MAC Binding

IP & MAC Binding: Enable

ARP List: 8

:: Security Section >> ALG

Use default settings / no changed

:: IPv6

IPv6 Mode: disabled

:: Administration

Remote Management: Enable

HTTP Port: 8888

Web Address for Management: 192.168.7.59

The problem I'm having with this router is:

These router often become unresponsive after being operated for a several days (after the next 3 - 5 days). When this router becomes unresponsive, access to the router administration page / web address for management cannot work, and port forwarding also does not work. So that all devices behind the router become inaccessible.

All clients behind this router is an IoT device (ESP8266) which uses very little data traffic.

Hello, sorry for respond late.

Please try the below suggestions:

1. Upgrade the firmware of the WR820N to the latest version, then reset it to factory defaults, please reconfigure it from scratch and don't import the previous config files to monitor:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/tl-wr820n/#Firmware

2. What if you delete the IP&MAC binding rules and try to do address reservation for the 8 devices instead? The setup is similar as the below:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/1554/

Thanks.

Hello,

I have followed your advice to update the firmware and no longer using arp binding arp, just dhcp address reservation. I will monitor the stability of this router for a few days. Hopefully, after upgrading the firmware, this router can be more stable.

Thanks

After the firmware upgrade, this router is still unstable. I have to restart it every days, otherwise, all connected IoT devices cannot be accessed after a few days later.

Seems this router will have problems if the port forwarding and dhcp reservation list are used simultaneously for multiple device.

Have you tried my previous suggestions that reset the router to its factory defaults, reconfigure it from scratch, don't import the config files back, don't configure the IP&MAC binding, then monitor the performance first.

@Kevin_Z

I've done reset to its factory default before I upgraded the firmware. After the firmware is upgraded, I reconfigure again from the strach.

I didn't configure arp binding, but configuring dhcp reservation address is must. Without configuring dhcp reservation, all IoT device connected to this router will get random ip. In this condition, it is difficult for each device to be monitored form external network.

I see, may I know how did you recover the connection? Do you need to reboot the WR820N manually by powering it off then on?

When did you purchase it? Can you show us the current firmware version on the router web GUI? Thanks.
