Model: TD-W8980
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 0.6.0 2.12 v000c.0 Build 140613 Rel.31066n

Is there a reason my modem/router has Port 80 open. How can I close it

GRC Shield's Up shows that it is open and says "So having port 80 "open" as it is here causes intruders to wonder how much information you might be willing to give away."

Note: TPLINK could not find my model. It is actually TD-W8970

EDIT: Was able to put Port 80 in Stealth mode by disabling UPNP setting under Forwarding/UPNP

However I have not found out how to disable modem sending ICMP echoes

@Fried_Bananas

Good day.

For the TD-W8970, the local login via 192.168.0.1/tplinkmodem.net used port 80, which did not have any security hazards.

As for ICMP echoes, do you mean ping from remote and local?

If yes, it cannot be disabled but you can only choose the ICMP(ping) from local.

Thank you!
