failing firmware update TL-PA9020P(AU) V1

I have two TL-PA9020P kits, all bought here in Australia. Two of the adapters are V1, the others are V2. I decided to update the firmware because every now and then I needed to powercycle the adapters (I think that was the "not waking up" issue) to make them work again. I updated the V2 ones without an issue (vie LAN cable).
I do not manage though to update any of the two V1 adapters. They are running version 3.2.4_902101_170118_901 . When trying to update with firmware TL-PA9020P KIT(AU)_V1_170628 that I downloaded from the Australian support page, The update program pops up with "update failed" in about a second... regardless how often I try.
Can anyone help?
