TL-WDR4300 can work as wireless access point or WDS the main router.
I didn't get what you are trying to do... Can you describe in details with the topology?

Thanks Vivian for your response.
I am trying to set may TL-WDR4300 as the main router (base station) and to connect my older Netgear N300 as an access point (repeater). I don't manage to do this as I didn't find anywhere in the TL-WDR4300 a place I can configure it as a base station and set the AP mac address

WDR4300 is working as a router in default settings. We don't need to set AP MAC address on router page. How did you configure N300 as a repeater?
