Hi everyone,

I recently bought two TP-Link products:

Router: TD-W8980
Powerline: TL-WPA4230P

Router details:
Firmware Version:0.6.0 1.7 v000e.0 Build 140919 Rel.52176n
Hardware Version:TD-W8980 v1 00000000

Powerline details:

Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.0.4 Build 141030 Rel.50540n

MAC-QCA7420-1.1.0.844-01-20120919-FINAL
PIB_422011_140304_002
TL-WPA4230P 1.0 00000000

When I plug the powerline Ethernet cable into the router I am unable to use the internet

The performance is bad using all types of connections. I've connected to the network using the wireless access points broadcast from the router, the powerline adapter and the Ethernet at the bottom of my power line adapter.

Thanks in advance

Powerline is TL-WPA4230P instead of TL-WPA4230PKIT?
Powerline devices have to work in a pair at least. One should be connected to the router and another one or more can be used as the Wi-Fi extender.
Besides, did you configure TD-W8980 first? Can you access internet bypassing powerline?
If not, you should check your configuration on TD-W8980. Your ISP is BT infinity fiber broadband(VDSL) or Standard BT Broadband(ADSL)?
W8980 cannot work with VDSL line...Only TD-W9980 works with VDSL currently...as I know...
