Model: Archer AXE75
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.2 Build 20240827 rel.68051(4555)

I have a TP-Link AXE75 router thata has been working fine since March 2024 in router mode with a Virgin Media Hub 3 in modem mode. However, I've run into internet connectivity issues that I think I've narrowed down to the rotuer.

I noticed that all my devices stopped connecting to the internet despite good Wifi signal. I've spent hours trying to diagnose the problem, and have found the following:

  • The internet settings appear to be fine (public IP address from modem)
  • If I can get ping to work (e.g. ping 1.1.1.1), then I get ~99+% packet loss
  • After rebooting the router, I reliably get around 50 consecutive good pings / ~1 minute before reverting to 99% packet loss
    • If I run a speedtest in this window, I can full speed (250 Mbps down, 25 Mbps up). Running it outside of the good ping window, it fails to complete.
  • If I connect directly to my modem, my internet is absolutely fine.
  • The issue is the same regardless of if I'm on Wifi or connected via ethernet cable to the router
  • The problem manifests across all devices on the network.
  • I have tried factory resetting everything and changing DNS. The firmware is the most recent available.
  • If I use Cloudflare WARP, my pings/speedtests work fine and I can access all websites as normal (cannot run on all devices unfortunately!)

Any ideas on what it could be?

Thanks, @woozle!

It wasn't a shared IP, but a device in the house was malfunctioning and DOSing the router. I realised after renaming our VM Hub to the same SSID that the router used caused the same problem to appear. After adding devices back one-by-one, the culprit was identified. Resetting the malfunctioning device has brought internet back to our home.

Hi,

Verify that no other device in your network uses an IP address that is identical to the Archer AXE75's LAN IP address.

In case you have Wi-Fi access points or range extenders connected to the AXE75's network, then disconnect them and check whether that makes any difference.

Actually, the best way to test would be to disconnect (i.e. switch off) all network devices from the router and then connect only one single client device that you use for testing Internet connectivity. In case it worked fine with only the one device connected, then connected more devices to the network one by one.
