Archer c7 v2: can't make vnc work over internet with firewall on
Region : Canada
Model : Archer C7
Hardware Version : Not Clear
Firmware Version : 3.14.1 Build 141110 Rel.44276n
ISP :
I have a virtual server entry for vnc forwarding to a specific ip. The computer requests this ip so it's not dhcp assigned. I've tested the ports as being open on various port testing sites without issue.
VNC works fine on a lan, over the internet I can log in, but it only works for a few seconds (seems about 20) and then times out. I've tried various server/clients all the same.
If I turn off the SPI firewall it works immediately.
I know my port entries work because if I turn off SPI firewall and delete the port entries it no longer works over the internet.
So my port forwarding is fine, it just won't work if the firewall is on, which kind of defeats the point of point forwarding no?
Is there a reason why this shouldn't work with the firewall enabled?
