So about a week after buying the device it started to act weird in the last days. It works well when I'm just on forums and such via WiFi. But when I start downloading something or watching videos, it stops sharing internet via lan ports and wireless. After doing power cycle it again works well for a while but then does the same. It worked flawlessly for a week after buying without doing a single shutdown. Now to issue happens quite often, even more than a couple times a day. Today I updated firmware to the latest available version but that didn't change anything.

Hardware version is V2? What's the firmware version you upgraded? After upgrade, did you reset it to factory defaults and reconfigure it.
When internet connection stops working, can you login its web interface? If not, how about status of Sys light?

Yes hardware is v2. The firmware I upgraded to is 3.15.9 build 140607. After upgrade I did not reset to factory defaults but that should not be the problem because the issue occurred before upgrading as well and the problem was what led me to upgrade firmware. I was able to connect before and after upgrade and the sys light is working.

After upgrade, you should reset it to factory defaults and reconfigure it to test. If the problem continues, maybe your unit is defective.

Have you been checking internet connection without TP-Link router?
