Hello there,
I followed the instructions on this page on trying to setup the print server but hit a bit of a road block on page 7 step 3: http://www.tp-link.com/resources/document/TD-W8970B_V1_Print_Server_Application_Guide_1910010854.pdf
The list with heading Printer Names is completely empty, tried on win7 and XP and not sure why that is as my printer is on the list of compatible printers, it is an HP Lazerjet 3030. The device is the W8970B. Could someone please help me
Thanks
note: i know this is probably the wrong section but i could not find the section pertaining to my device.

The printer is a new one? If it is connected to your PC directly, can you print? Printer's driver has been installed on that PC, right?
Disable anti-virus and firewall first. Try again.

I tried it on a 3rd PC and it worked almost flawlessly. I think the problem is because on the other computers the drivers were downloaded by windows. Using the proprietary drivers from the HP website seems to fix the problem. Thanks!

Martin, do you know your printer is not in compatibility list?

Vivian,
I checked the list; the printer is not on the list.
The printer I use is OKI C5650 (old but very reliable and fast colour laser printer)
Any help for this situation?
Thank you.
Martin

Martin, if it is not a driver issue, maybe they are not compatible with each other.

Vivian,
thank you for your reply. You might be right.
Please, let me share my point of view and expectations I have with printing through USB at ADSL router.
- 10 years ago I bought my firsr ADSL modem from US Robotics
- At that time I had HP InkJet printer; all I had to do was to create IP port in a PC (=IP address of the US Robotics ADSL router); install the same driver I used for local USB port also on this local IP port and THAT WAS IT
- 6 years ago I bought colour laser printer OKI C5650; this printer has LAN connection - there was no problem to use it in LAN with fixed IP address
- Then few months ago the US Robotics ADSL router and LAN adapter in the OKI printer was destroyed through lighting
- So I have a reliable printer with USB connectivity only
- I bought the TP-Link W8970 ADSL modem as the feature of "sharing your printer through USB" is advertised
- NOW:
-1- My expectation was that there is no need for any local utility to be installed; if it was possible 10 years ago, why not today?
-2- OKI today in Czech ( www.oki.cz) sells 33 different laser printers (not talking about old models like mine, not including special printers) - on your compatibility list I can find THREE OKI printers - this is 9% of models available in the market today !! It is not that printer is not compatible with W8970 modem - it is that W8970 modem is not compatible with many printers generally available in the market !!
Sorry for this reply, but I am simply disappointed and wanted to explain why - as I am not sure, if you are aware.
Reagrds,
Martin

I can't agree more. TP-LINK people should read what you said and improve their products.

I also faced the same problem with my printer server problem and tried many tricks but could not solve the problem. Then I updated the printer drivers but another issue occurred in my printer. When I printed any document that time Canon Printer Printing Blank Pages. I changed the ink and repair the printer but the same issue still occurred.
