Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.3 Build 20241211 rel.47943

Got this Router today.

Setup VPN following the instructions.

Downloaded the config file on an Android phone and also Windows laptop.

Imported the file in OpenVPN App on Android and desktop application on Windows.

While disconnected from Wifi and connected over Mobile data, tried to connect on the Android device and it fails and timesout.

Same thing with Windows desktop, after connecting it to my cell phones mobile hotspot for internet.

Is this something that is getting blocked on ACTFibernet side ?

I have another TPLink router at my other home in a different country and OpenVPN Works great.

But something is not right here in Hyderabad.

Any other things I can check.

I even changed the connection type from UDP to TCP and that did not help either.

Very disappointed as I purchased this router to be able to get my own Indian VPN Server for the rare occasions that I need to connect while outside the country.

Hi@nav2014,

Thank you for reporting your issue to our community.

Please refer to the troubleshooting guides for VPN server issue.

How do I troubleshoot if the OpenVPN is not connecting

VPN Server Is Not Working Properly on TP-Link Wi-Fi Routers

If the above steps still cannot solve the problem, please provide the following information for further troubleshooting:
1.    Your specific network topology. For example, ISP modem—router)))((( client devices

Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection

2.    Screenshots of router’s WAN IP address

3.    The .ovpn file for OpenVPN or .conf file for WireGuard VPN, and screenshots of all VPN Settings

4.    Log file of the VPN client if you have

Thank you.

@Joseph-TP  So I then looked at your second link and this caught my eye "1) If it is not a public IP address, it means there is another router or NAT in front of the TP-Link router, which blocks the VPN connection, you will need to open a service port on the front router or NAT device for the VPN connection, and then change the private WAN IP address to your real public IP address in the .ovpn file (for OpenVPN) and .conf file (for WireGuard VPN)." You also asked about network topology, so I use this ISP in Hyderabad, India called ACT Fibernet. They basically pull an ethernet cable into your house, which is then directly plugged into this TPLink router. It is a PPPoe type of connection, userid and pwd for which is saved in the wifi router. So what might be happening is that there is another router on a pole somewhere on the street from where they pull these ethernet cables into several customers houses. I obviously will not have access to that to do open a Port. So I am out of luck it looks like.
