Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.6.5

Hello,

I'm just getting started with the mesh network, with the deco m4.

I've succesfully installed the main node, and working fine.

It is directly pluged to my router using ethernet.

When plugging my satellite, it boots well and I can see it on the app.

It is plugged to ethernet on a switch, which is plugged to another switch near the router.

The satellite is on the network, but it is using wifi instead of ethernet, so the signal is bad.  (I have a enormous wall between the main node and the satellite, which cuts the wifi signal. That's why I badly need the backhaul solution.)

I used to have an access point plugged to the same switch and the signal was really good.

Could you please assist me on this issue ?
thanks a lot.

So, I found a solution.

The issue was my internet box, I guess.

I was doing (all ethernet) : box => deco main => box => switch => switch => satelite

I'm not sure, but the box cannot act as a switch, or I do not know the good parameters at least.

So, I've changed to:  box => deco main => switch => switch => satelite

and it works.

I have other equipments on the switch that i did not want specially to pass through the deco main, but I still manage to have a good bandwith.

Deco main is a SPOF to my house, but whatever, it works.

Hi, thanks for your sharing here.

Yes, internet box can not work as switch usually.

For the Deco Ethernet backhaul, you may refer to this guide when you need next time:

General questions about Ethernet Backhaul feature on your Deco

Best Regards.
