Model: Archer AX73
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20241031 rel.70279(4555)

I am having problems with TP-Link Archer AX73, the wifi doesn't have internet access for a couple of seconds and then it comes back on, this causes a big problem on my phone which keeps switching between mobile data and wifi, the problem is also on other devices with the same behaviour I really don't know what to do, I found similar threads but none solved my problem, it's really annoying.

Important note: this doesn't happen in wired connections, only on wifi.

Hi @NotJohnAfterAll,

For your issue, please try the following suggestions:

    1) Make sure the Router is properly placed, it should be put in open area instead of inside a cabinet or shelf.
    2) Login the web management interface of the Router, go to Advanced > Wireless > Wireless Settings, change the wireless channel into another one.
    3) For 2.4GHz wireless client devices, adjust 2.4GHz channel width into 20MHz, for 5G wireless client devices, adjust 5GHz channel width into 80MHz or 40MHz to avoid interference.

  @Joseph-TP Nope, still the same.

This morning I had like 20s outage, but I don't think this is a coverage issue.

But what I noticed is that you can't explicitly set channel width in the web UI; it is every time some mixed option (like 20/40/80/160mhz or 20/40mhz) only option that has only one channel width is 20mhz. So if I want to set 2.4ghz to 20mhz and the 5ghz to 40mhz I can't do so.

 Hi @NotJohnAfterAll,

Please try the following suggestions:

  1. Reduce the number of wireless clients and optimize the router’s position.
  2. Set different Wi-Fi names for 2.4gzh and 5gha bands, and disable smart connect if the router supports it.
  3. Change 2.4ghz channel(1/6/11) and channel width(20Mhz). Change 5ghz channel (band 1: 36\40\44\48, or band 4:149\153\157\161\165) and channel width(20/40mhz)

If the above steps are not helpful, please collect information:

  1. When does the issue start, and how frequent is it?
  2. How many devices experience unstable wireless connection issues, and what are they?
  3. Which band has a dropping issue (2.4G or 5G)?
  4. Led status on the router when the internet drops?
  5. How do clients reconnect after a disconnection? Will they automatically reconnect, or do we need to reboot the router?
  6. Does the Wireless Network name disappear when dropping?
  7. When did you buy the router?

@Joseph-TP I already tried all of those things you wrote. I found them on different forum threads, but none of them works.

So here is information you requested:

1. Right from start but it wasn't that noticeable like now. I started trying to fix that like month ago. What is important to say is that I had to disable smart connect and some features right as I bought the router because it was making BIIIG issues. So now it is way better than before, but still not ideal.

2. I know about 2 which are saying they don't have Internet access trough wifi and switches on mobile data (Samsung phones), other devices (like laptops) which do not have access to mobile data just do not load pages for while.

3. Both of them

4. Can't tell, the outage is really quick. I can't even reach the router before it kicks back in.

5. Samsung phones usually do not reconnect themselves, you need to reconnect manually and other devices just keeps connected - no reboot required

6. No

7. In October 2024

Hi@NotJohnAfterAll,

It seems that the router's Wi-Fi broadcast function may be abnormal. It is recommended that you contact local support for further help.
