Hi my cousin just started university and her halls of residence only has ethernet access she wants wifi access to connect her phone etc, can you recommend a product that wouldn't be too expensive for her to get that will do the job for her thanks in advance

Not sure you need an access point or a wireless router.
So buy a wireless router because access point cannot be used as router but router can be used as an access point. :D
