Hi Community

Existing set up

Virgin Smart Hub 5.0

Connected to it Is an X20 and then a further two X20s in seperate areas within the home - these work great.

What i have tried

I have created a garden office with a dedicated Cat 6 cable direct from the Virgin router.

I hard wired an additional X20 into the garden connection,  thinking it would get a direct connection via the router. However, it is trying to conmnect as Mesh.

What I would like

Is it possible to

  • Designate the garden office as an AP using the one x20
  • Existing set up remains  'as is' using Mesh

I see the option within the app of switching to AP mode but assume this will create all three as APs whereas i only require 1 in the garden

Thanks

Hi, welcome to the community.

In wireless router mode, there is only one Deco that can be connected to the ISP modem/gateway via an Ethernet cable.

For your case, you might still need to set Deco into Access Point mode.

Deco units in AP mode still support Mesh and all four Deco X20s would still be under the same Deco Mesh network.

For more details, you can refer to General questions about Ethernet Backhaul feature on your Deco

Thank you very much and best regards.
