Hi,

In most cases when users report that the VPN feature is not showing it turns out that they have set the router to "Access Point Mode". VPN is only available when the router is in "Wireless Router Mode". So please verify this first.

In case the VPN feature is also not showing in "Wireless Router Mode", then you may consider performing a "Factory Restore" (i.e. full reset).

@kimbra

If you connect to the Proton VPN on your phone or computer directly via the OpenVPN Connect App or WireGuard App, will the IP location change? How did you check the IP location?

Please make sure you correctly added the phone or computer to the VPN client device list on the AX53 by verifying its MAC address.

BTW, please provide a detailed network layout which will help us understand the configuration better. Thank you.

Hello  @Kevin_Z : when can we expect a final release for Archer AX53/AX58 V1. Do you also intend to work with open source implementations for the firmware ?

Thanks !

  @Yolo2049 скорее всего никогда, скоро будет год как не было стабильных прошивок на него. А релизы все глючные и нормально не работают. Видимо с нормальными програмистами в tp link проблема

  @Kevin_Z

Hi,

I’ve been struggling to get my WireGuard VPN server working properly with this firmware. It looks like the exact same issue that @Inari has been facing in the previous version as well. https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/730864?replyId=1473548.

I can connect to the wireguard server fine, I can access the local devices as well. Ping also works to external domains but the actual internet connection is unusable. Websites either don’t load at all or only partially load before stalling. I’ve also tried lowering the MTU, changing ports, but no luck. Speedtests don't even want to initialize. The openvpn server on the other hand seems to work perfectly.

These are my configurations, is there something that's obviously wrong? I have tried turning dns on/off in the server, manually defining it in the client side etc.

  @Kevin_Z Hi again and thanks to all the development team, it is gratifying to keep up the good work to improve the devices and especially this model, for me all the functions of this pre-release firmware work correctly in AX53 V1 (US). However as in the previous version the DoH/DoT protocol is missing, but thanks for these great updates.

@Kevin_Z   @Jeffsa12  we all need DOH/DOT to improve security and privacy.. please implement it on the next pre release firmware..

I hope the development team consider it.

thank you
