Router range is very low and signal streangth is also weak

I tested my router connectivity with Wi-Fi Navi app. When testing I was just 1/2 feet away from my router.
Band | Channel | Signal |
---|---|---|
5G | 149 | -40 dBm |
2.4G | 1 | -35 dBm |
I hope you can guess what happens with the signal just going a little away from it.

Hi @Dipto-K,
The wireless coverage of the router depends on the current environment and is affected by the performance of the wireless receiver. Therefore, the wireless coverage of the same product will vary in different environments.
Please refer to this link to improve the Wi-Fi coverage of the router, you can refer to: How to place your wireless router for optimal reception and performance
For slow speed issue, here are some steps to help troubleshoot the issue:
1. Please use https://www.speedtest.net or the speedtest APP/CLI(https://www.speedtest.net/apps) for testing speed accurately.
2. Please make sure the speed of your ISP/Modem is good by connecting a PC directly into the ISP Modem/Router.
3. To verify wired(Ethernet) speed of your Router, please connect the PC directly into the LAN ports of the Router, make sure all Ethernet cables are CAT5E and above.
4. When testing with wireless, please connect your phone/laptop to the high speed network (5G/6G) instead of 2.4G. In order to reach maximum throughput over wireless, put the phone/Laptop next to the Router.
Here are some tips which might improve the speed of your Archer Router:
1) If Ethernet speed is slower than expected, please try different Ethernet cables (CAT5E or above) on the Router.
2) Disable QoS, please access http://tplinkwifi.net and go to Advanced >> QoS to disable it.
3) Disable Parental Control, please go to Advanced >> Parental Control to disable it.
4) If wireless speed is slower than expected, please go to Advanced >> Wireless Settings to change the 5GHz Wi-Fi channel, you may try different channels to find the best one for your environment.
5) Disable SIP ALG and UPNP, please go to Advanced >> NAT Forwarding >> UPNP to disable UPNP, go to Advance >> Security to disable SIP ALG.
6) Try a few other speedtest servers, other servers might reach better speeds.

Hi,
Firmware version 1.14.3 has already been released for the Archer C64 and there is an even newer beta version that fixes a bug found in v1.14.3.

Sounds great. I recently bought this router but found out it was released many years ago. It's really good to see tp link still working with it. Do you have any plan to discontinue support for this router in any near future? And could I know which CPU and how much ram , rom used in this router?

I don't know about TP-Link's future plans for the Archer C64.
It uses a MediaTek CPU that has been custom-made for TP-Link, 64 MB of RAM and 4 MB of Flash memory.

That signal strength seems decent up close, but if it's dropping too fast with distance, it might be interference or hardware limitations. Have you tried changing channels or adjusting antenna positioning by using the Tomi Watch wire? Also, some users report better range with third-party firmware like OpenWRT, though it depends on the router's support.

I don't see any firmware download section for this router in the tp-link's Bangladesh region website.
Some of TP-Link's router models have specific firmwares for different regions, but there are also router models that use the same firmware globally.
In case of the Archer C64 the firmware is the same for all regions.
