Model: Archer AX3000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I have been having some issues with the router given to me by EE (Smart Hub WiFi 7). I went out and got what I thought would be a decent router Archer AX3000 (AX55).

With the EE router I get the speeds I pay for roughly. I am on the 1.6GBs and their router gives between 1.2GBs to 1.4GBs, but it has some issues when gaming, and I currently cannot access their Game Optimization service through the app because it's broken, which they are trying to sort out.

I've connected the Archer AX3000 with no issues, but the speed I'm getting is less than 500MBs, and that is while it's connected via the ONT device.

I understand the AX3000 is a step down from the EE router because it has wifi7, but I didn't have any speed issues with the older EE Smart Hub that was WiFi 6.

What could be causing this issue?

When doing your speed tests, did you change the server? (Guessing your using ookla)

I found by changing the server (I'm using the trooli server) and there's only a few that let me get full speeds that I was paying for ( Bt 945/110 package)

Also just check your wifi channel is set to 160mhz to allow to get upto full speeds as well 👍🏻

Also I think off the top of my head the ax55 is only 1gb so that'll be the best youll get

Yeah i checked using different Speed Tests inclusing Ookla and i changed servers for test but it all came back the same. Ahh that may explain the speed then, when i first looked it up it says it can deliver upto 3Gbs but i just relised thats 1Gbs per port if it was hard wired. Thank you for your help :)

No worries,

I'm able to pull 945/110 over wifi and lan so I would've thought you should be able to get those speeds with the Ax55 as its a Gb router?

@Basboi85 it almost got there. I've plugged the original router back in for now. I've setup the AX55 to be an extender for upstairs now and seems to work quite well.
