Model: Archer AX80
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.4 Build 20241227 rel.62129

Hello, I bought 2days ago a new AX80v1 EU version for upgrading the WiFi coverage zone in my parents house.

I had 2x AX55v1 already so i wanted connect them both as satellites to AX80v1 as main router.

I notice very important issue.

When I try to add EasyMesh devices (2xAX55v1) to AX80v1 EU (main) via Wireless Backhaul mode.
The progress goes to 100% and fails to add the satellite device.

I try few times with couple factory resets and still same results.

To fix it: i had to Add EasyMesh devices via Ethernet backhaul

When my 2xAX55v1 EasyMesh devices are added via Ethernet backhaul,

I unplug the Ethernet cables to check if Easymesh satellite devices (AX55v1) can connect via Wireless Backhaul to main router, but AX80v1 shows EasyMesh devices (AX55v1) is offline.
But AX55v1 satellites shows they connected to main router.

Also client devices connect with satellites (AX55) too. And AX80v1 show the connected clients on DHCP list.

The Tether app also does not show my 2xAX55v1 connected easymesh devices to the AX80v1 router.

Visible is only single device. Because of that i cant control easymesh satellites (AX55v1) devices via Tether app or AX80v1 webpage.

The lastes firmware on my devices:

AX80v1 EU  firmware 1.1.4 Build 20241227 rel.62129

2xAX55v1 EU  firmware 1.3.5. Build 20241211 re.34816

TP-LINK engineers team please fix it  as soon as possible and add new firmware for the AX80v1 EU version with the latest features like for the AX55v1 router!

Example:

- CAC for EasyMesh

- Easymesh R2 Traffic Separation feature to support network traffic segmentation.
Implemented Easymesh R3 functionality including DPP (Device Provisioning Protocol) and encrypted communication.

- binding capabilities for satellites and clients under EasyMesh

Dear  @ChrisBS

I have this situation, as the main Router in the EasyMesh network I use the Archer AX73 model, and as satellite routers in the network I use three more Archer C80s that are connected to the Archer AX73 via a Switch with an Ethernet cable.

Everything works perfectly and the entire network functions great, but I say that all devices are interconnected with an Ethernet cable CAT 6 and in my opinion this is the best way for EasyMesh to work at full capacity and give you the best (fastest) speeds.

Try configuring the EasyMesh network again by first resetting each of the AX55v1 Routers to factory settings, and then connecting them one by one to the AX80 exclusively with an Ethernet cable via the LAN 1 port until the AX80 finds them as an EasyMesh satellite.

I configured my EasyMesh network in less than 10 minutes and as I said everything works flawlessly!

Regards!

Hey, thanks for advice but i think you dont read my whole msg :)

The main problem is:

AX80 EU in lastes firmware Its not working adding easymesh via WiFi becouse while adding device progress come to 100% and its fail to add statelite device (AX55). No matters how mamy times i do factory reset on all devices.

Also I alreday said on my topic i found solutions to add statelite devices by connect via Ethernet backhoul and that works flawess. With not problem I adding satellite device in easymesh by that option.

But Second problem is when easymesh satelite devices alreday added and i want them working by WiFi no by Ethernet cable.

When i disconnect ethernet cable, satellite devices (2xAX55) connect via WiFi to Main router (AX80 EU). But main router show them offline anyway . Becouse of that i cant control easymesh sattelites devices via Tether app or AX80 webpage.

Ok, my mistake for not fully following (understanding) your post.

Now I see that you mention that your Archer AX55v1 has the latest firmware updated, which is 1.3.5. Build 20241211 re.34816.

As far as I can see on the TP-Link global page, the latest official firmware for the Archer AX55(EU)_V1 is firmware 1.3.3 Build 20240628, and that the firmware that you say you have (1.3.5. Build 20241211 re.34816.) has been withdrawn from use in the meantime and it might be causing problems... maybe I'm just guessing?

Available firmwares on the TP-Link page It depends on which country you choose.

Example: On the Italian TP-Link page, it shows the last firmware from 2023 for AX55v1, but in Canada, from 2025.

From my experience, each country webpage department is too lazy to update every new available firmware.

You need to ask them to do it or find out alone which country has the newest one.

I talked before with TP-LINK engineers, and AX55v1 hardware is the same everywhere, no matter from which country firmware you download.

( but better always ask them to be sure if you have other model)

But AX80v1 hardware is different for EUROPE (built-in antennas) and the USA/CANADA (outside antennas).

So if hardware is different, that means firmware is too, probably. :)

Then in your case, my advice to you is to update the firmware for your device/router only when the device itself offers it, so you will always be sure that it is the only suitable firmware for your device and the region for which it is intended!

Maybe your problem has something to do with that ...?

Thank you again for the advice, but unfortunately that won't fix anything. It's buggy firmware on AX80v1, and they need to fix it ^^. That's why I report it.

Also, AX80v1 has gaps in firmware features, and TP-LINK needs to update it too.

BTW.

In my home network, I have BE800v1 (main) and 2x BE550v1 (satellites), :D and I used only beta firmware provided from TP-Link engineers. It works better than all the official firmware. LOL.

Hi@ChrisBS,

Do you mean that you can create easymesh network via Ethernet backhaul firstly? But if you unplug the Archer AX55 from Archer AX80's LAN port, it will turn offline on the device info page even it is still running network, right?

Did you try to refresh all routers to refresh the connection? Please Update the Tether APP on the Play Store or App Store.

Hello  @Joseph-TP  thank you for answer :)

I mean, I can't add a satellite device via EasyMesh Wireless Backhaul—it's an error! every time and popup window to contact with support.

But add EasyMesh satellite via Ethernet backhaul , work like a charm with no probelms/

"But if you unplug the Archer AX55 from Archer AX80's LAN port, it will turn offline on the device info page even it is still running network, right?"

Yes indeed.

- The network is running after unplugging cables. (when i add them via Ethernet backhaul)

- I'm able to log in to the webpage of satellites (AX55), so it's connected to the AX80.

The AX80 shows Easymesh satellites offline, and because of that, I can't control them via the main router webpage or Tether app.

Of course I do restart; I do factory resets a couple of times, still the same issue.

Also, every firmware and Tether app is up to date. At least I don't find newer firmware's on the TP-Link page.

And it will be nice if AX80 gets some new features like the AX55 router.

Example: To be able to bind capabilities for satellites and clients under EasyMesh.

BTW. @Joseph-TP  remember its AX80 version with internal antennas ^^
