Model: Archer BE550
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20241230 rel.20267(4155)

Hi There,

We recently switched to fiber optic internet through Aussie Broadband with 1000Mbps download speed & 50 Mbps upload.  We purchased the BE550 Archer router to take full advantage of the speeds.  However, we have found there are issues at least once a day with our speeds slowing drastically, sometimes falling below 10Mbps for both download and upload, when they are usually over 900Mbps/40Mbps normally.  This seems to impact all devices on the network, with no device seeming to get any kind of priority.

Originally, we thought this might be related to the modem, but have contacted Aussie Broadband and found no issues with the modem.  I've also found that, when the speed drops, if I simply disconnect the router from the modem and reconnect, without power cycling either device, this will resolve the issue.  Again though, this has become an almost daily occurrence and impacts both our wired and wireless devices, with the 10Mbps second speed test coming from a wired device.

QoS is disabled on the device and there are no parental controls active.  We've also experienced this issue with OFDMA/MU-MIMO both enabled and disabled.  I have also tried factory resetting the router, to confirm that I have the correct settings active, even just going with the most basic settings to have Wifi active.  At this point, I am thinking this might be a hardware issue with the device, but wanted to confirm if there might be anything else I could be missing.

Any assistance or guidance on resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi@ph4r40h_y4m1,

We're pleased to offer a new pre-release version 1.1.1 Build 20250306 for Archer BE550 for testing in your real network. This update aims to enhance overall system stability and address the issue that certain 10/100Mbps devices cannot access the internet via the 2.5G LAN ports. We strongly recommend upgrading to this version to improve your experience:

Hi@ph4r40h_y4m1,

For your issue, please help us collect the following information:
1. When the problem occurs, is the WAN connection of the router normal? Have you tried different Ethernet cables to connect the router and modem? By the way, what is the model of the modem? What devices are there on the client?

2. Please try to update the beta firmware in this link to see if it can improve the situation?

3. Is the time of each problem fixed? If so, please set the reboot schedule for router to compare and check. Go to Advanced > System Tools > Reboot Schedule.
4. If the time is fixed, use the PC to ping 8.8.8.8 for a long time to check if there is a disconnection before the sharp drop in speed? How to use the Ping command

Please use command: ping -t 8.8.8.8 (Parameter -t means unlimited ping)
