Model: Archer C2300
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.4 Build 20240529 rel.41435(4555)

Dears,

Two days ago I've upgraded firmware to the newest version (1.1.4 Build 20240529 rel.41435(4555)). Since that day I do not have internet connection. I only see the status WAN port is unplugged even though it's not correct. Prior to the change everything was working well, now I have no internet.

I have fiber connection from my local provided of 1gb download & upload - symetrical. I have also modem, which works well. My internet provided said that my WAN cabel is not connected properly, but nothing has changed but the firmware. I changed the cabel to a new one, cleaned the WAN port, but it didn't help at all.

I've heard somewhere that I should change "negotiation speed of Ethernet ports" but I don't have that setting in the internet options of my router.

Best regards,

Wojciech

I was looking for this setting under internet...

After changing it, it does work. The only issue is that it connects only at the 100mb full duplex, where I have 1000mb. Unfortunately on that one it does not.

Do you think it's an issue I should address with my internet provider? Seems like I am capped now at 10 less then I should have.

Trying some other quality made ethernet cables would be a good idea.

Before addressing this with your ISP you could roll back to the previous FW release to rule out the new FW release issue.

  @terziyski I am a little puzzled...

ISP: reached out to them and with the service guy we tried following: disabled DHCP, changed modem into router on the ISP site. Router was not getting IP address until the speed by the ISP was set too 100mbps full duplex. Test unsucessfull - changes reverted.

Firmware: rolled back to the version "1.1.3 Build 20230906 rel.41773(4555)" set to either auto-negotiating or 1000mbps. No internet connection. Internet comes back back without any issues on 100mbps settings.

Cable: connected modem with a router with a brand new 5e cable. No internet until negotiating is set to 100mbps.

Additionally (not sure if related): I have a brand new cables installed in the house and I just finished RJ45. Tested them and cables works well. When connected laptop (via cable) to the router, I am not getting internet connection via wire. Unfortunately it's a work-pc so I am not able to change ethernet negotiation speed, but it COULD be the reason that router all of a sudden has issues with negoations on both WAN and LAN.

If this is any of a help, modem that my ISP uses is HALNY HL-1GE.

Do you have any idea what can be done in this situation?

Sometimes these devices are quite sensitive on using different type of RJ-45 receptacles and crimping process.

I would test the laptop with a factory made, at least CAT 5E cable (from  the router kit) to check the negotiated speed.

If the issue presents itself with two different FW releases, I would suspect cabling or faulty router ports (less probable).
