Link Speeds

Im writing this as i have this device connected to my routers wifi and then put the booster upstairs connecting device to my pc via ethernet cable but my link speed is only at 100mbps and not any higher is there a reasoning for this and can you help

Yes, that is what is meant by the term "Fast Ethernet Port" that is printed on the blueish box the RE315 came in. The "Fast Ethernet" standard defines a speed of 100 Mbit/s.

So can the link speeds not go any faster cause when i bought it it said 1200 hoping it would allow faster wifi and it doesnt when i had virgin media wifi it came with a booster capable of a link speed of 1000

TP-Link's lower end range extenders like the RE315 only have "Fast Ethernet" ports (100 Mbps). The "1200" mentioned for the RE315 is solely indicating its Wi-Fi capabilities.
Range extenders starting from the "RE450" and higher number models support 1000 Mbps Ethernet link speed. (aka "Gigabit Ethernet")
