Hey Folks, 

I have been using the RE550 to extend the wifi into my garage that i have converted into a home office and it does a fine job of picking up and spitting back out the wifi. BUT, i would like to run a cable from the Virgin Media Hub 5 into the RE550 so that it is able to broadcast a faster signal that the one it is pickup wirelessly. i have 260mgb internet but can get only 30/40 mgb in the home office. 

I ran an ethernet cable from the back of the virgin media hub to the RE550 (as i have done for the sky tv, playstation and apple tv) but as soon as i connected it (and did nothing else) my Sky TV mini box stopped working. The sky mini box is a mini satelite tv box that allows me to watch the satelite tv in more than one room but i believe it links back to the original box rather than finctioning as a standalone. The main sky tv still works (it does think it is connected to a sky internet rather than the virgin media ethernet cable but my research tells me this is normal) and the internet works on all my other devices. 

I decided to ignore this Sky TV minibox issue and try to configure the RE550 into AP mode (which i belive is the right thing to do). The Tether app could not find it or connect to it.

Pull the ethernet cable out of the RE550 and the Sky mini box starts working again. 

Am i doing something obviosuly wrong? I read about chanign the Virgin Media HUb into Modem mode... would that have any other unintened consequences?
