Hello,

Why does this router take so long to assign IP addresses to devices on the network?
My old router did it in a few seconds, and it had the same configuration.
And this applies to many devices in my network.
For example, WiFi Printer, WiFi PC, Mini-Router-AP-client, TV-STB-WiFi need a lot of time to obtain IP and connect to the internet.
But for example, phones connect quickly, the device connected to AP-Client also (when AP-Client already has a connection with MR600).
I tried different DHCP ranges. I tried automatic DHCP and Address Reservation. It always takes about 90 seconds.
Is this normal for this model? Is there an option to change this?

Regards
Krzysztof

  @radius75

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

Does it only happen when the mobile devices connect to MR600 for the first time? Would it be mush faster when it reconnects to the same SSID?

Since the regular mobile phones connect quickly, I don't think there are incorrect configurations on the MR600.

Wait for your reply and best regards.

@David-TP Thank you for your interest in the topic.

This happens every time the wifi devices are turned off and on again. When the wifi network card in the PC is turned off and on again in the options.

When I only do the dissconnect/connect Button then the reconnection is quick.

I still have my 15 year old router with the same configuration for the same devices. With it, I have never once waited almost 2 minutes for a connection (IP assignment). That is why I noticed it right away.

edit

This is clearly visible in the ruter log that I pasted in the first post.

I turned off the wifi card in the PC - 2025-02-03 07:31:18 [6] System: Device(F8:1A:67:xxxxxx) leaves 2.4G Wlan

Then I turned it on -  2025-02-03 07:31:26 [6] System: Device(F8:1A:67:xxxxxx) joins in 2.4G Wlan

And only after 90 seconds did negotiations for IP assignment begin - 2025-02-03 07:32:55 [5] DHCPD: Recv REQUEST from F8:1A:67:xxxxxx
During this time the wifi card in the PC has no assigned IP address.

Other wifi devices do not have such an option to turn off the wifi card.
But for example, with a stopwatch in hand, I checked that the wifi printer needs about 2 minutes from turning on the power to be visible on the network.

On the old router, access to this printer on the network is almost immediate after turning on the power.

Everything points to the router being the problem. It's causing a time delay for some devices on my WiFi network.

If it's important, my wifi card in my PC is TL-WN751ND
