Hi,
Do you remember whether the version of the driver that Windows Update installed was 1030.44.1014.2024 or 1030.52.107.2025 ?
Version 1030.44.1014.2024 does not support USB 3.0 as per my own tests.
What is the version of the driver that you rolled back to?
The latest driver provided via TP-Link's website that supports USB 3.0 is version 1030.44.0408.2024 and linked to in this post: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/509006
Note that uninstalling and installing drivers back and forth might sometimes result in the USB Wi-Fi dongle behaving abnormally. So it's always a good idea to restart the computer in between.

If it worked fine previously, then there should be a way to make it work again.
I would remove all drivers via the Device Manager that have been installed previously for the T3U and then try again from a clean starting point.
Basically, right-click on the TP-Link USB Wi-Fi adapter and select "Uninstall" and check the box "Attempt to remove the driver for this device" and uninstall the driver. Then click the button for "Scan for hardware changes" to have the T3U redetected. Then uninstall again. Do this over and over until the checkbox "Attempt to remove the driver for this device" does not appear anymore.
Then install the driver 1030.44.0408.2024 again.

You can also check if "Windows Update" offers you the driver version 1030.52.107.2025 as an "optional update". This is the newest version currently available and it works pretty good with my Archer T4U and supports USB 3.
