iPhone's wifi stops working with Archer BE900 (BE24000)
iPhone's wifi stops working with Archer BE900 (BE24000)

I'm having trouble with iphone retaining internet connectivity with the BE900.
While wifi is working fine for other devices like my computer, the wifi stops working on our phones every now and then. In order to make it work again, I have to disconnect from the wifi from my phone and reconnect to it.
The phones are not using he 6GHz network.
This didn't happen with the old ISP's router.
I can't say for sure since I hadn't used it long, but I think this problem exaggerated after the latest firmware update.
Is this a bug or are there any settings in the router that aren't set up properly?

Hi @SimonSorcerer,
For your issue, please try the following suggestions:
- Reboot your iPhone.
- Enable the guest network and connect the device to the guest network.
- Change the DNS server.
- Reset the device to factory default settings.

@Joseph-TP I bought this router and I have the exact same problem. 2 x Iphone pro 15 and none of the recommended procedures helped. Do you have any new advice on what to do?

I disabled Smart Connect in Advanced -> Wireless settings, and it seemed like it fixed the issue for a few days, but recently I have similar issues again, the Wifi just dies on the phone.
Iphones have a private wifi address feature enabled by default, and I'm not sure if that's causing this, but they recommend to keep it on.
I can keep trying the other solutions like changing the DNS from the ISP to a public one, even though I'm not fully aware of what side-effects this could introduce. Maybe it's worth to try and split all the wifi bands to different SSIDs and see if it's more stable that way.

@SimonSorcerer I currently have a dedicated separate SSID for my iPhone at 6 GHz and the problem is still the same. I did not experience this problem on the original router from Asus.

Hi @Padi_1,
1. When the Wi-Fi connection is lost, please check what IP the iPhone gets? Reference: How to find IP address on your devices
2. At the same time, please install the app on the iPhone to ping the router and check if it can be pinged. How to Ping Your Network From an iPhone
3. Please disable MLO net work if you have set it.
4. If there are other routers or range extenders connected to the BE900, please remove them.

1. IP address is still the same as before the problem with the wifi freezing
2. Ping is not possible
3. MLO is not enabled
4. No other router in the area
I discovered a temporary fix that solved the problem. I set the security on the SSID 5G-2 to WPA2-PSK[AES] only, which I connect to with my iPhone and the wifi works perfectly. WPA3 or WPA2/WPA3 encryption must not be enabled. I have not experienced any further freezes. No other devices on the network have the problem with WPA3, only the iPhone.

@Padi_1 Are you saying you disabled the Smart Connect on the BE900 and modify the wireless security for the 5GHz-2 network to WPA2-PSK[AES]?
What if you enable the Smart Connect and modify the security to WPA2-PSK[AES] only for the 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz-1 / 5 GHz-2 mixed Wi-Fi, will the 2 iPhone Pro 15s connect properly?
BTW, what are the iOS versions on both iPhone Pro 15s?
Thank you very much for all the tests and feedback.

Could you please also help confirm if you can establish a stable connection by changing the wireless security to WPA2-PSK[AES] only for the network on BE900 as suggested by Padi_1?
BTW, what are the models and iOS versions on the iPhones?

Yes, I disabled the Smart Connect feature on the BE900 and modified the 5GHz-2 wireless network security to WPA2-PSK[AES]. Since then everything works perfectly. iOS version is 18.3. I'll try Smart Connect with WPA2 only later. I will be very happy if you release a new firmware that solves this bug.
@Padi_1 Thank you very much for all the details.
Please let me know if the issue will reappear if you enabled the Smart Connect on the router.
