Hi everyone,

I’m having a strange issue with my TP-Link Archer MR200 v5.3 router, and I really need some help. Here's what’s happening:

  1. I recently reset the router to factory settings (something I’ve done plenty of times before).
  2. After the reset, the router is asking me for an password, but it’s not letting me create a new one like usual.
  3. I’ve tried all the following passwords:
    • admin
    • root
    • user
    • My old admin password
    • The Wi-Fi password written on the back of the router

None of these work!

  1. I’ve also tried resetting the router again multiple times, but the issue persists.

  2. The internet is working fine, but I can’t access the admin panel to change any settings or update the password.

  3. I also tried logging in using my TP-Link ID, but I get a message saying "This router is not bound to the current TP-Link ID. Enter the router's login password to bind for management."

  4. There’s nothing on the back of the router about an admin or default password, just the PIN for the Wi-Fi.

The only thing that seems different this time is that I updated the firmware recently. Could that be causing the issue?

How to Fix the Login Issue with TP-Link Archer MR200 (V5.3)

Issue:
After resetting the router to factory settings, the admin panel asks for a password but doesn’t allow creating a new one. Common passwords like admin, root, or the Wi-Fi PIN on the router don't work. Even after multiple resets, the problem persists. The internet works fine, but the admin panel is inaccessible.

This issue is occurring due to the latest firmware update to "Archer MR200(EU)_V5.3_240508-Portugal Unitel_STP", but don’t worry—it’s easy to resolve.
 

Solution:

The default admin password for your router is:
@123fwaUnitel#$

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
 


Step 1: Login with the Default Password

  1. Open a browser and navigate to the router’s web interface: http://192.168.1.1/
  2. Log in using the default admin password: @123fwaUnitel#$


Step 2: Roll Back to an Older Firmware Version (Beta Firmware)

  1. Download the firmware files: *I cant give you the firmware files.*

  2. Extract the downloaded ZIP file to a folder on your computer.

  3. In the router admin panel, navigate to:
    Advanced > System Tools > Firmware Upgrade.

  4. Under Local Upgrade, click Browse next to the "New Firmware File" field.

  5. Select the following beta firmware file from the extracted folder:
     Archer_MR200(EU)v5_1.1.0_0.9.1_[250124-rel60103]_up_boot_2025-01-24_16.39.33.bin .

  6. Click Upgrade and wait for the process to complete.
     


Step 3: Revert to a Stable Firmware

  1. After the router restarts, log in again with the default password: @123fwaUnitel#$

  2. Repeat the firmware upgrade process:

    • Go to Advanced > System Tools > Firmware Upgrade.
    • Under Local Upgrade, click Browse and this time select:
       Archer_MR200(EU)v5_1.2.0_0.9.1_[240717-rel58627]_up_boot_All_Release_2024-07-18_09.43.40.bin .
  3. Click Upgrade and let the process finish.
     


Step 4: Change the Admin Password

  1. Log in to the router again with the default password: @123fwaUnitel#$
  2. Navigate to Advanced > System Tools > Administration and change the admin password to something secure.

Alternatively, you can reset the router to factory settings after completing these steps to ensure a fresh start.

Conclusion:

@Aboodi_8 I have the same issue, did you find a way to fix it? Also this happend to me after i upgraded the firmware from there website. i think its "240508" that i upgraded to, so i guess its a bug in the firmware. i hope they can fix it ASAP.
