Hi,

I'm managing a TL-MR6400 which functions well for my business except lately I'm having an issue viewing my inbox on the tether app when connecting from any external network, tried it with 2 different devices and the same issue persists. Once I tap on inbox I receive a message saying 'unable to connect to the device, please try again' and once I tap OK I am thrown to the

My devices menu in the APP.

I did notice that if I'm connected to the local wifi network of the router I am able to view it well.

I don't remember doing any related changes to the settings of the router prior to this issue happening.

Please advise what should I do and check?

Hi, welcome to our community.

Here are some suggestions for your reference:

1. Update Tether app to latest from Google Play or Apple Store.

2. Reboot the router.

3. Connect your phone to other wireless network instead of using mobile data to confirm.

4. Log into the TL-MR6400's web interface and check the following:

  • Remote Management: Ensure that it’s enabled, as this allows access from external networks.
  • Firewall Settings: Check if any firewall settings might be blocking access to the Tether app

5. On your phone, go to the app settings and clear the cache for the Tether app.

Thank you and best regards.

Hi friend,

Thank you very much for the reply but unfortunately none of the above solved the issue,

Also I have tried the method of accessing the inbox from both external WAN and from mobile data networks and the issue persisted,

I have made sure that the remote management is ticked, but since I have control over everything else from the app except for that one inbox function, I think it wasn't the issue,

As I had no other ways to resolve this I had to Factory reset the router and reconfigure it, then viola the function began to work again as intended.

Thank you for the quick response, and I hope anyone who encounters the same issue sees this post in the future.
