Model: Archer AX12
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.22 Build 20240311 Rel. 73956(5553)

Hello, I bought this model (TP-Link Archer AX12 v1.0 IN) about 3 months ago. However, for the past 2 months, my devices have been randomly disconnecting from the 5GHz connection. This issue doesn’t occur on the 2.4GHz connection.

I’ve not enabled Smart Connection, so both bands have separate SSIDs. I’ve tried adjusting the wireless settings, such as the Wi-Fi channels, channel widths, and security modes, (and I've not tried the Guest Network) but none of these worked.

Is there any fix for this? This was the best Wi-Fi 6 router I could find for the price, so I really don’t want to sell it. :(

Sorry if this has been posted before. I just don't know what to do for my firmware.

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

May I confirm how many client devices are connected to the 5GHz wireless network? What are they separately?

Do all of them get disconnection from the 5GHz network when the issue happens?

You may refer to the guide to troubleshoot and adjust the channel and channel width of 5Ghz.

It is also suggested to contact local technical support for direct help.

Hello, thanks for replying. I usually have about 5–6 devices connected to the 5GHz network on average, occasionally going up to 10. By “separately,” I meant that the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks have different SSIDs.

Not all devices experience disconnection issues. For example, my laptop, which supports Wi-Fi 6E, works fine with the network. However, the majority of smartphones can’t stay connected. Even my guests have asked about this issue when using both phones and laptops.

I’ve tried fiddling with the channels and channel widths (setting them to different channels and even on auto to see if it fixes the issue), but the only solution I’ve found so far is to reboot the router when it happens. Unfortunately, even that is just a temporary fix. I suppose my only option now is to contact local technical support…

Thank you and best regards.

I've tried changing DNS, I've also tried that guide... it doesn't fix the disconnection issue. Whenever the devices disconnect, they refuse to reconnect automatically. I can connect to it manually, but not automatically. I don't think this is on my end :(
