Hi,

I hope this is the right place to report a bug.

I have two BE550 routers, one as main and the other as satellite in EasyMesh with Ethernet backhaul.

If I set either the 2.4Ghz or the 5Ghz WiFi channel manually, the satellite router do not sync and keeps using Auto channels.
I verified this by setting 2.4Ghz to channel 3 and 5Ghz to channel 122 and checking the WiFi signals with iOS's AirPort Wifi Scanner: the satellite was using completely different channels. I repeated the same test with other channels, but the result has been the same.

For now I'm forced to use the auto channels for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, but this is problematic because I live in a crowded area and I would really need to set specific channels which have less interference.

Would it be possible for you to look into this issue and provide a fix/solution?

Thanks :)

  @LordGiotto

The irony here is that Wireless Channel set to Auto should choose the best (least crowded) channel according to your current environment.

When using devices in a mesh it becomes even more complicated. Here's a post which describes most of the concerns when using manually set wireless channels.

It's about Deco mesh but the subject is pretty much similar.

Hi @terziyski,

thanks for the answer, super interesting post, and I understand the risks of changing channel in a mesh system.

However, my need of changing the channel is mainly for the 5Ghz band and it's to improve coverage.

Basically my issue is that outside on the balcony (which is actually 5 meters in line of sight of the router), if the french door is closed, I actually get just 2.4Ghz and with a very slow speed (between 1 to 10 Mbps).

Before buying the second BE550 satellite I did multiple tests and I noticed that if I set the channel on 112 (DFS) with max 80Mhz width I can actually get 5Ghz there with around 150/200Mbs, which is a substantial improvement.

Unfortunatelly now with the second BE550 as satellite I cannot change the 5Ghz channel manually anymore (without breaking EasyMesh), and when it's set to auto the router seems to always pick non DFS channels (so just between 36 and 48), which have apparently more interferences.
