Archer VR600 v3 syncing over VDSL2 35b or 17a?

Hello, I've been using the Archer VR600 v3 for a while and it's been working great. However, recently I upgraded my internet package to a higher one; VDSL2 (profile 35b) which should give me speeds up to 150mb.
My ISP (Telecom Egypt) can confirm my line is now on the new package (VDSL2 35b), but they don't have a way to know if I'm actually syncing on 35b or 17a (as per the old plan).
I can't see a way in the web UI for the VR600 to force it to sync on 35b, or even know if it's syncing over 35b or not.
This is what the Advanced > Status looks like:
And this is the Advanced > DSL Settings screen (notice there's no manual 35b or Annex Q options)
In the System Log, I can see this line
DSL Link Up us/ds 0/76800 kbps Type 64/65B PTM Annex B |
Does it mean it's syncing on 17a and not 35b?

Hi, welcome to our community.
After confirmation, the web UI of the device will not show 17a or 35b.
According to the current rate you shared, it is only 76.8Mbps, not up to 150Mbps you mentioned.
You may test on another modem router if possible. Or it is suggested to contact your ISP to doube-check.
Thank you and best regards.

@Marvin_S Hi Marvin, thanks for your reply.
Using the ISP provided router it shows the DSL link syncs at 35b. It's a big limitation for the current VR600 v3 firmware that it doesn't even show the current VDSL profile, let alone specify it manually if possible.

@JoeyOggie Follow these steps to arrive at the answer you seek.
1. Start a command prompt window (WinKey + X, click command prompt).
2. Use Telnet to log into your modem-router. Type telnet followed by your modem-router's IP address. E.g., telnet 192.168.1.1.
3. Enter your modem-router's admin password
4. Type adsl show info.
Here is the relevant part of what my modem-router returned.
linkEncapsulationUsed=G.993.2_Annex_K_PTM
modulationType=VDSL2
lineEncoding=
allowedProfiles=8a,8b,8c,8d,12a,12b,17a,30a
currentProfile=
X_TP_VDSLProfiles_8a=1
X_TP_VDSLProfiles_8b=1
X_TP_VDSLProfiles_8c=1
X_TP_VDSLProfiles_8d=1
X_TP_VDSLProfiles_12a=1
X_TP_VDSLProfiles_12b=1
X_TP_VDSLProfiles_17a=1
X_TP_VDSLProfiles_30a=0
Notice that currentProfle is blank, but the last profile =1 is 17a which makes me deduce that I am connected at 17a. My SNR and speed are mediocre and therefore, 17a is the best I can connect at. My ISP is Etisalat by the way and here is a screenshot for your perusal.
You can try other telnet commands by typing help, then going through each command one by one.
On a YouTube video, the YouTuber's screenshot of the same command showed currentProfile= equal to 17a and not black like my case. I don't know why.
My VR 600 is v3 with firmware 1.7.0 0.9.1 v009e.0 Build 240929 Rel.31907n
By the way, I arrived at this solution from ChatGPT! (I am falling in love with it 😄) The last time I used Telnet was back in the 90s when I was still an undergraduate student at university. Back then, we used Telnet to access our university-provided email account from home via dial up 😄
I hope you find this solution useful 🙂

Your SNR is pretty good for your speed. Would you happen to know how far are you from the street cabinet? I am about 300 meters so I am thankful I can connect at 30 mbps 🙂
If you have any advice about how to improve my SNR without lowering my speed, I am all ears.
