I will test out the beta firmware for the 433Mb to 6Mb drop in seconds with line of sight.
I am currently on original and looks like it wasn't fixed on the July 2013 version - so no point in trying that version.

Can we all of us who have this issue start raising tickets with support - if you do - feel free to message back with the support numbers, so we can link it back to them as multiple users with the same issues.
The main point selling point of this router is it is AC - and it's the AC that is struggling the most to be remotely reliable.

I have firmware 3.13.33. I had the same issue (super slow connection) with late 2013 MBP connecting to C7 archer. Here is what I did that solves the problem:
1) Manually swtich 5GHz channel to 165
2) Disable DHCP

I also tried to disable UPnP but it didn't work for me.

Do you actually get AC speeds?

I updated from beta 140127 to 140307 about 15 minutes ago, and I can say that it is working properly so far!!! Where I had issues with the previous beta in about 5 minutes (Adium always had trouble staying logged in on Facebook chat, sites stopped loading some of its contents, etc.) I have not yet seen these issues now.

So far so good, I will post back later to report how things work out.

EDIT We're about 10 minutes later and back at the beginning. It took a bit longer before malfunctioning, but issues still present.

I am using a Broadcom BCM4352HMB 802.11ac 2x2 wifi adapter on my laptop and I was able to get some success.

I was able to get decent 5GHz performance by doing on the following (on Win 8.1). In adapter configuration-> Advanced-> scroll to "Bandwidth Capability" and set it to "11a/b/g 20/40MHz". My connection starts at 900Mbps, but quickly drops to ~585Mbps. AC is still not working. But I have been using this for >24hrs and transferred ~100 GB of data so far without problems.

I should mention that for some reason I don't get DNS service from the router at 5Ghz (works fine on 2.4GHz), but I simply entered my DNS addresses manually (You can try "8.8.8.8" which is google's open DNS or "4.4.4.4" Level 3's open DNS)

This seems to be some compatibility problem with Broadcom and TP-Link's Archer C7. I hope they work together to get this resolved. I am disappointed in both companies.

AFAIK, if your wireless connection is reporting 585Mbps, then AC should be working, as the maximum achievable speed at N is 450Mbps... However, is not working at max speed...

No It is not working on AC. The 802.11n standard is capable of a maximum of 600 mbps using 64-QAM, 40MHz channels and 400ns Guard Interval, as stated on this wiki page ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11n-2009 )
