Hardware Version: V10
Firmware Version: OpenWrt Chaos Calmer 15.05.1

Hello,

I want to access an application on my lan network from my wan network so i opened the concerned port via the port forwarding interface.

So I try to access it via the router ip adress and the port but I think I miss something because it doesn't works. What should I do so the traffic can pass trough the router only on the concernet port and then redirected to the lan ip ??

Thanks for your help :)

 Hi @pioche,

Port forwarding on a router is a technique that is used to allow external devices access to services on private networks. This is typically used for gaming, running a web server, or for some peer-to-peer file sharing systems. The port forwarding feature is only available when the router is working in Router Mode.
You may log in to rotuer's Web management page and go to Advanced > NAT Forwarding > Port Forwarding/Virtual Server/DMZ to configure it. You can set up to 32 entries.
If you are using port forwarding and DMZ host at the same time, please note that port forwarding rules have greater priority than DMZ.
This FAQ provides the detailed instructions on configuring port forwarding based on different router models: Port forwarding: how to set up virtual server
Additionally, here are some tips for you if port forwarding doesn't work:
    1. Make sure the server is accessible from the internal network.
    2. Make sure your router obtains the public WAN IP address, if your WAN IP is not a public one, port forwarding will not work. (CGNAT address is also private IP address that ranges from 100.64.0.0 to 100.127.255.255.)
    3. Check the firewall settings of your server, make sure it allows traffic from the outside Internet.
You may check more detailed instruction following the FAQ:Why port forwarding feature is not working

@Joseph-TP Thanks for your answer !

The router I want to configure with port forwarding, let's call it Router B, is not the main router of my network. On its wan plug, there is a router connected to my ISP, let's call it Router A.

Router B allow me to create a subnetwork with a wifi acess that can't access to the main network of the Router A.

So i don't know if the Router B is in router mode.

I added the rule on my port forwarding page (see full settings bellow)

But it still don't works:

- The service is accessible from the subnetwork of Router B via the address 192.168.1.33:7000

- The "public" WAN ip adress of Router B is 192.168.1.14 according to the overview admin panel. This is not a public adress but i don't want this service to be accessed from the real WAN. i only want to access it from my Router A private network.

- I think the problem come from the firewall settings but i don't know how to configure it. Can you help me to do that ? There is a lot of options and i don't understand all of them.

I added a rule in the Firewall - Traffic Rules panel (see full settings bellow) so the Router B open its 7000 port.

But when i try 192.168.1.14:7000, it's still don't work. I'am missing something but i don't know what :'(

FULL CONFIG:

full config firewall

If your Router B is in AP mode you don't need port forwarding at all. But in this case devices connected to Router B would be able to access the devices connected to Router A - they would be in the Router A LAN subnet 192.168.1.0/24.

If Router B is in router mode:

the devices behind the Router B should be in a different subnet from 192.168.1.0/24 (Router B WAN IP is 192.168.1.14 as you stated).

You stated that the service in question is availbale at 192.168.1.33:7000 which is the Router A LAN subnet but not the Router B LAN subnet.

  @terziyski

So my router is not in AP mode.

Please, tell me how to do so i can access to one device of Router B sub network from all devices of Router A network.

How to configure my tplink router ??

Please, don't send me a tutorial, i already read all of them.

I already add this forward rule:

I also added this firewall rule:

Please tell me the list of rule to add/change on my Router B so the device connected on the subnetwork of router B can be accessed from the network of the router A.

For this to work you just need a port-forwarding rule on Router B if it's in router mode.

If you configure Router B in AP mode (Case 1) you won't need any port-forwarding rule nor firewall rule.

The port-forwarding rule should be configured in Router B (TL-WR841N) WebGUI. Here's how to do that - Case 1.

If this firewall is part of your Router A - you don't have to configure any rules there.

If you still have a problem and want to get any further help, you have to describe in details:

  • Your Router A make and model, its LAN IP address
  • Your Router B make and model, its WAN / LAN IP addresses, its working mode (router mode, AP mode, RE mode)
  • Any other modem or routers (from ISP) in your network
  • How these devices are interconnected to each other
