Archer VR1210v USB Storage Issues
Hello,
I recently purchased Seagate Expansion 4TB HDD External Hard Drive, model STKP4000400. The problem I am having is that the router doesn't seem to detect the storage partitions, but it clearly knows the drive is there (see below for what I mean).
Firstly, I plugged the new HDD into my PC to verify it's working, and put a couple 'test' files on it (a folder with a .jpg in it).
I then plugged it into the router's USB port. However, when going to Advanced > USB Sharing > USB Storage Device, the HDD is not listed. Scanning made no difference:
I will note that in Basic > Network Map > USB Disk, it shows that it recognises the HDD, but not the storage space of the HDD, which says 'Total 0.0GB' and 'Available 0.0GB':
I have tried the following:
Leave 200MB EFI System Partition on HDD and format the remaining partition (around 3.6TB) to exFAT
Leave 200MB EFI System Partition on HDD and format the remaining partition (around 3.6TB) to NTFS
Leave 200MB EFI System Partition on HDD and split the remaining partition into two smaller partitions, both less than 2TB (also tried all combinations of exFAT and NTFS)
Do all of the above with files on the drive and empty drive
Delete the 200mb EFI System Partition on the HDD and then repeat all of the above
Re-initialize the HDD as MBR rather than GUID (which then limited the drive to only 1 partition of just under 2TB).
I have also plugged in a 15 year old 4gb Kingston memory stick to the router's USB port which worked flawlessly and immediately. I was able to see the memory stick in the router UI and access from my PC with zero changes to PC or router settings. I didn't even need to scan.
Any help is desperately appreciated - I'd like to have the HDD plugged into the router so that we can access it from multiple devices. I'm trying to get away from relying on cloud storage from Google/Microsoft etc.
Thank you.
