Before the Upgrade
(1) Please be sure you have read the Beta Test Agreement before upgrading the pre-release firmware!
(2) For the sake of insurance, it's always recommended to save a copy of the router Backup Config file before upgrading or downgrading.
(3) You may follow the guide to upgrade the firmware of your router. How to Upgrade the Firmware on the TP-Link Wi-Fi Routers.
(4) This pre-release firmware for Archer BE800 V1 can be applied to all versions (EU/US/JP/TW/etc.).
(5) This version of software can be degraded to the previous version.
(6) To use the new 3-band MLO connection, both the router and client device must support Wi-Fi 7 and 3-band MLO. Please note that most Wi-Fi 7 smartphones and network adapters may only support 2.4GHz + 5GHz or 2.4GHz + 6GHz when connecting to the MLO Network.

@benoitm974 I can add: using just 1GB of RAM, even though teardown pictures show 2x 1GB modules installed.. The GE800 does have the 2GB, though.

Hello K , thank you very much for advocating and supporting DoH/DoT feature for BE800.
My question is related to the usage of DoH others than the predefined ones in the current beta firmware.
For example my VPN provider offer secured DNS addresses as you can see in the picture attached.
I have tried to add any of the following
Sadly none of the was accepted , is the beta firmware soft locked to certain list of predefined secure dns's ?
Best Regards

@Kevin_Z Maybe not related to this firmware, but why can't you manual update of a Easymesh device? Now I still have to pull it out and do the upgrade and bring it in again.

I am sorry for insisting with the same question K.
Is the DoH firmware limited to a predefined list of DNS over https service providers ?!?
Noticed the DoT is working with almost all of the service providers.
DoH on the other hand if i try use any other servers than is in the predefined list it fails to perform.
Best Regards

I'm checking with the development team and waiting for a reply.
If you cannot enter the customized DNS servers via DoH, I assume it is not supported on this firmware.

First thoughts on BE800 beta firmware:
1) DoH works fine but only with predefined existent list of secure dns , custom dns is not yet possible to add (probably in the next fw version)
2) DoT works fine with both predefined and custom lists of secure dns servers
3) Mesh setup BE800 with ethernet backhaul to BE500 works fine
4) SFP / SFP+ works fine on 10Gbps PPPoE with both my current ISP's
5) VPN client and server work stable and fine .
6) TimeMachine with attached to the USB storage works flawlessly.
Useful but buggy feature - ECO Mode - when is set it works as intended.
The issue with ECO Mode is when is switched to regular mode in the webui shows as regular no ECO mode but it keep still acting as ECO mode ... lower radio wifi signal or if is scheduled for stop wifi radio between certain hours it will turn wifi off and will stay off till router fully rebooted / power cycled.
So far everything else work OK no other issues seen after 48 hours of testing it.

Thank you very much for your thorough testing of the useful features.
Regarding the ECO Mode, can you please explain it in more detail? Are you saying when switching to Power-Saving Mode and then switching back to Normal Mode, the router still transmits at a lower signal, which seems still in Power-Saving Mode? Could you please show me how did you test that? With some signal monitor app?
Please ensure the Time Settings on the BE800 is configured correctly and ensure it's synchronizing the time successfully.

See the attached pics:
Time is set correctly
As you can notice Eco mode is set to normal
The first noticed issue is at 00:00 midnight the wifi radio full stops on main router tho it is not scheduled to do that.
If i do a full power cycle of the router everything is going back to normal.
If i set ECO mode again then later will disable/switch back to normal mode in the interface will show normal mode but on background / backend side mostlikely he keeps the ECO mode because NetSpot app keep showin wifi signal at least 30% lower ...
I need further testing with other phone or tablet than iphone 16 pro because i suspect it might be a glitch of the 6Ghz band which apple 16 iphones are constantly put on the connection priority and very "fond" to connect.
I'll be back with more results soon
best regards
Ovi
