Model: Archer AX50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.4 Build 20240509 rel.64683(4555)

After buying this router for just 2 years and has gone out of date, recommended by a friend said it has OneMesh or EasyMesh feature or what so ever.

Now as I need to setup a Mesh in home and bought a new router AX53 and realized this out of date router does not support OneMesh or EasyMesh.

So asking nicely when will this router has a new firmware update to add Mesh feature in it?

Or do I just done a GS to TP Link? As not advertised?

I still have the original box of this router saying it has such feature on it.

Hi  @AntiSocialer

Sorry that we don't get advanced notice of whether there will be new updates being released or when a feature update will be available for Archer AX50. The way we do firmware is that we only release a new version when there is a bug/flaw/vulnerability to patch or a new feature to add, but since I am not in software development, I cannot provide a definite answer. We recommend keeping an eye on our official website for any new firmware updates if there would be any.

For mesh network, since you have bought Archer AX53, you can add a new easymesh device to create easymesh network:

EasyMesh Product List

Alternatively, you could consider Deco mesh network:

Deco WiFi

Set up Deco configuration

For Archer AX50, you can connect it to the mesh network via cable, and set a separate network on it.

To avoid double NAT issues, you can also set the AX50 to Access point mode.

Hi  @Joseph-TP

The reason I am setting up a Mesh is to use minimal cables as possible.

Now, I need to compensate TP Link's obsolete product to set up a separate network.

And you are trying to make a sale of other Easy Mesh & Deco Mesh, you may want to rethink again and try to say something more useful.

Why should I buy more product from TP Link that I have already experienced a failure product caused by your technical and marketing team?

What's the point of supporting TP Link? 还是说就是要这样被人看不起?

Hi  @AntiSocialer

I understand your feelings and dissatisfaction. But from our official information, Archer X50 is not advertised to support onemesh or easymesh technology. You can check the Archer AX50 specification for details.

You can also check the compatibility list of different mesh technologies on our official website. For example: Onemesh devices, Easymesh devices

There is no Archer AX50 in these two lists. Because Archer AX50 does not support these two mesh technologies, so I suggested you consider other mesh products before.

In addition, the mesh product recommendations I introduced to you before were not for product promotion, but to let you know what kind of products can be used together to form a mesh network if you want to use mesh networking?

It is recommended that you contact your Local Technical support before purchasing the product to confirm which products can form a mesh network? Which may help you avoid similar situations from happening again.

For every user's issue, we hope to do our best to provide you with help and advice within our scope of responsibility. For your situation, we also hope that our suggestions will be helpful to you.

In conclusion, if you want to ask whether there is a firmware update for Archer AX50 to support mesh technology, I can't give you a clear answer. But if you have other feedback and questions, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you.

Do I need to say more?

While TP Link given all the excuses of "coming soon" or "planned" or whatsoever, a "false advertise" is a false advertisement.

Your hindsight with "Local Technical Support" is just bravo.

End of Story.

You are Welcome

Hi  @AntiSocialer

Sorry for the inconvenience, but as the link you provided: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/213866 mentioned, ‘the Archer AX50 will not receive an update to OneMesh, it might be limited by the chipset, but we cannot understand more with the technical limitations or feasibility.’, the reply time was December 2020. When you purchased the product 2 years ago, the relevant information of the product should not have mentioned the support of onemesh or Easymesh.

In addition, even the planned functions may change due to some factors, so it is recommended that users give priority to products that already support specific functions when purchasing products.

So, unfortunately, at present, Archer AX50 does not support onemesh and Easymesh functions. It will basically not be included in the relevant plan.

If you need to consult more other issues, please feel free to contact us.

Hi  @Joseph-TP

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/525658

Yet TP Link still have customer buying such combo AX50 + Range Extender in 2022. Could you kindly explain why this still happens? wink

How can such company cannot understand more with the technical limitations or feasibility, even the ability of its own released product?

Should customer understand more than TP Link does?

What has TP Link even done before realsing a new product?

So, at present, TP Link should focus on releasing new firmware update that will make AX50 a functional OneMesh or EasyMesh product, not just abandoning a product with the only reply "sorry for the inconvenience, unfortunately blah blah blah".

We are not gambling so we don't need luck. WE PAID.

Tell your techinical or firmware team get their job done and done it right.
